Wait, is that sand in my Real Salt?? | Real SaltReal Salt
I have been using Real salt for many years and love it but, the other day I heard something about regular salt and that is that in salt there is sand and glass and what happens in the body is that the shards of glass put cuts in the artery’s and make them bleed then cholesterol comes to save the day to stop the bleeding..and this causes hi cholesterol and high blood pressure..so does Real salt contain sand and glass also ??????????

This may come as a shock, but table salt is comprised of sodium chloride and along with that often contaminated with sand and glass. Herein lies the problem. When you consume this lovely mixture the sand and glass are abrasive. They scratch and make small tears in your body including your veins. Your body reacts by trying to patch and heal with fats (cholesterol). This often causes your body to make more cholesterol than needed and cause blockages and in more extreme cases can lead to stroke or heart attack.

There are very few things that can get unaltered through the digestive processes and then through the walls of the stomach and small intestine. Certainly nothing like a "shard" of glass. It's true that ground glass is bad for you, it makes the stomach lining bleed uncontrollably and that will kill you pretty quickly.

I haven't followed those links, but my first inclination is to say that this bloke is either a quack or the worst communicator in the history of reporting medical matters.

Take a tablespoon of 'Real salt'.
Add it to a pint of boiling water.
Then stir and watch the glass and sand dissolve into the hot water.

    People can be such morons.

Ground glass kills › Dr Karl's Great Moments In Science (ABC Science)

    Ground glass kills

About 500 years ago, it was believed that if you ground up some valuable glass and fed it to an enemy, it would kill them. A few centuries later, the slave chronicles of pre-Civil War America refer to disgruntled black slaves who “poisoned masters and mistresses with arsenic, ground glass and ‘spiders beaten up in buttermilk’ ”. A popular device in Victorian literature had fictional characters using ground glass to surreptitiously kill off unwanted relatives. The “ground glass death” myth persists to this day. For example, it is claimed that unscrupulous manufacturers of ecstasy cut it with ground glass. But, as it says in Porgy and Bess, it ain’t necessarily so.

Quanity is the essential factor in poisons. Ground glass certainly is very bad for humans to ingest but we can tolerate some. Sand is essentially glass, and it is in most natural vegtable foods. Enough ground glass will erode the lining of the intestines and cause internal bleeding.
