Thread: Annoying Cousin and Possible Ear Damage?

Recently I had quite a painful experience when my annoying little cousin, who I was looking after, decided it would be funny to fire a cap gun directly into my ear. Initially anger overrid most of the pain but since then I have had an on and off ringing in that ear which is slightly worrying me.

From what I understand cases of hearing damage almost only occur from prolonged exposure to loud noises, but it has been two days and the ringing is still there. Do you think think its possible that this could be long term?

LOL, sorry i just find that type of thing funny. A friend of mine had a firework go off near his ear last firework night and complained of a ringing in his ear for a couple of days after wards as well, but i asked him about it a week or so later and he said it had gone. But i think it's best to go and see a doctor anyway, better safe then sorry.

man that sucks. i know how you feel. i had a trumpet BLAST my left ear. not even a centimeter away. it hurt all week but slowly got better. no long term damage noticable so far. that was 5 years ago.

Yea i'm sure I would find it hilarious if it wasn't me, but at the time I was a little irratable due to lack of sleep and being forced to look after a hyperactive 7 year old for the day.

Anyway the good news is that I had no ringings today so I think it was only temporary.

I'm off to invest in a cattle prod so it doesn't happen again.
