Benign fasciculation syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My muscles have been twitching all over the body for more than 3 years. I know many people have this syndrome, but don't just pay attention to it, but it really disturbs me. Any advice how to get rid of it?
One blood test shows that Na, K, Ca and Mg are normal. I'm getting another to be sure and also check the thyroid hormones and vit D. I'm currently taking a Mg supplement, but it doesn't seem to help. Have to give it time of course. And I'm planning to eat lots of bananas and perhaps take vitamin D.
I don't want to start taking Parkinson's treatment in a low concentration and antidepressants would also be my last choice.
    Thanks!

OK. This may be of no help at all to anyone else, but I've found I have to nag my husband from time to time about taking fish oil supplements because .....

when he doesn't keep up with them he's much more likely to have severe twitching in his leg muscles when he's asleep. As I find being kicked and/ or kneed when I want to sleep rather annoying, I'm happy to nag about it.

The only problem is the obvious one. We have no idea why or how this works, or even how or why it might work. But it works for me, I mean him, and it's neither expensive nor does it cause any other problems, so that's what we do, I mean he does.

It's worth a shot for anyone else to try (unless they're allergic to fish). But you only mention dietary and supplement issues. Have you looked at managing your levels of activity, changing your exercise routines, dealing with fatigue?

Well, the metabolic aspect is a bit easier to handle, I think, so I started from there. I am stressed and perhaps a bit fatigued, but there's nothing much to do about it expect antidepressants, but those ultimately will cause even more stress for me, I am sure.
I once took fish oil for like a month just for fun, but I don't remember getting rid of them.

I don’t know anything about benign fasciculation syndrome but isn’t caffeine a known contributor in some cases of muscle twitching symptoms? Do you drink a lot of tea, coffee, energy drinks and eat chocolates?

No, I don't. But if I'm sometimes forced to, it gets even worse, unless the caffeine relaxes me, which can happen rarely.

You could try eating less sugar and adding a potassium supplement to your daily diet and drinking more water and also get adequete amount of sleep
    this things will go away.
