I have read somewhere that medicine like statins can mess your liver up. And could give you false positive for type two diabetes. Filix.

According to this paper Effect of statins on fasting plasma glucose i... [J Investig Med. 2009] - PubMed - NCBI the use of statins and fasting plasma glucose level (which is used to diagnose diabetes) are correlated. Not sure about messing up your liver though. Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors and they also increase the LDL (or "bad" cholesterol) receptors in the liver, so they help the liver remove the bad cholesterol from the blood, and so, decreasing the risk of heart diseases, but I have no idea if this would have a long-term damaging effect on the liver..interesting point, though..

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, however, there is.

statins are not fully understood. They were designed to lower cholesterol but we have found that statins reduce c-reactive protein and increase adiponectin levels. This means you will be more sensitive to insulin. It is also a buffer to oxidisation of cholesterol. There is also evidence to suggest that statins may be analogues to vitamin D. I doubt that they would give you a false positive for diabetes otherwise every patient that I see on statins would also be confirmed diabetics
