I want to take this supplement for eye health, but it only comes in gelatin capsules and I am a vegetarian. Can I open the capsule and take the content with water?

    It contains
    1. eyebright aerial part powdered extract 4:1
    2. Bilberry Fruit powdered extract 5:1
    3. Quercetin powdered extract (found in fruits)
    4. Rutin powdered extract (found in fruits)
    5. Carrot juice powder
    6. Lutein (from marygold flowers)
    7. Multi-anthocyanidins (from fruits)

It doesnt say timed release on it any where, and the ingredients seem pretty straight forward so I'm guessing its ok but I would appreciate any other opinions.
    Thanks

I would have thought it was fine to do so. The capsule would only affect the absorption of the ingredients, if anything. The company should publish guidelines on how to take the supplement, but the industry is poorly regulated.

i see, i believe sometimes the capsule is there to insure that the intestines are not disturbed by the contents. There might be other reasons as well, I think it is fairly safe to assume that these ingredients wont cause any adverse reactions but I will wait for a few more opinions.

The gelatin, as you suggest, is just a carrier - best considered as part of the packaging. Have read these typically dissolve in the stomach in 5-15 minutes. Not sure why that amount of gelatin material is so important to you but it's not going to make any difference without it.
Not sure if nutritional supplement ingredient labeling demands listing of processing aids but Mg stearate is sometimes added for flow control.
