Thread: Damage from microwave

I bought a microwave of a brand called NATIONAL, 2 years ago.
This afternoon, I discovered something that really freaks me out. There is a security mechanism that does not work anymore: when I open the door of the microwave before the end of the cooking / unfreezing, it does not stop but still emit microwaves.

Imagine worst case scenario, someone putting his/her hand inside when the microwaves are emitting. What could be the damages ?

There are safety stwitches in doors that if jamed will allow the mircoware to remain on.

No safety device is foolproof. It's wise to shut the oven off before opening the door.
Get rid of the defective oven.
I don't think you would cook your hand in a few seconds, but I think there is some danger to the eyes.
