Thread: how comes my family has not binocular rivalry?

i tested with me and my brothers and we all see superimposed images contrary to what normal people see:

do you think it could have any use to train this odity? maybe end with a dual cpu?

i dont see what its doing

it presents the letter d to one eye and the letter s to the other eye

you should see one letter or the other at intervals but not a superposition as my family does

in my case i have a lazy eye with an astigmatism, with the other being normal. With my left eye being the dominant my brain favors it. it is only when i focus with all my might, i get the same results as your family.I would compare the results to going crosseyed. Going off what you describe i would guess darwinism is the cause. Its possible your family has a random trait that has gone out of existence with most others (OR is just being started in your family???). just a guess not an answer

Any ambidexterity in the family? Left handedness?



Could you try an experiment for me?

1) Take individual portraits, with any plain backgrounds, of your brothers, yourself, and a few control "normal" people.
2) Make a horizontally flipped copy of each portrait.
3) Assign random filenames and write an answer key.
4) Allow individuals to compare side by side photos, and comment.

Can they recognize the true photo from the mirror image? Of themselves, of others? Which do they like better?

I'm guessing your family will have relative difficulty differentiating.



Another possibility is you're just using the term very loosely. For example my son claims to have "X-ray vision", meaning he can visualize hidden things.
