Rumor has it that there is a Cold going around that people just can't get rid of, both my daughter and I are members of such a club. It's like a constant source of annoyance where your not really sick, but you would appear to have a cold from an outsiders prospective. The once in a while runny nose, the throat that will never really clear, the cough from time to time.

Anyone heard anything about this, a friend of mine said he herd something on the news related to this. I realize many of you are in other countries, bugs to travel pretty well however.

I have to wonder if things like this are just a start to something larger. Perhaps related to the flu shot shortage in the US?

I'm having what seems like sinus problems, but it isn't. My body is achey, I'm tired all the time, and my nose is running into my stomache which is making me feel nauseous. So by those terms I am sick. I've been like this before, but this would be the second day of the second time this winter.

    Gee what a lovely thread...

it seems that you are allergic to something as a result you are always having a runny nose and headache.
do consult your doctor about the same

These few simple remedies may help you
Because there are so many viruses that cause colds, there isn't a vaccination, or shot, to prevent anyone from getting colds. But to help prevent catching or spreading a cold, kids should:

    * try to steer clear of anyone who smokes or who has a cold. Virus particles can travel up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) through the air when someone who has a cold coughs or sneezes, and even secondhand smoke can make your child more likely to get sick.
    *
    * wash their hands thoroughly and frequently, especially after blowing their noses. cover their noses and mouths when coughing or sneezing.
    * not use the same towels or eating utensils as someone who has a cold. They also shouldn't drink from the same glass, can, or bottle as anyone else - you never know who might be about to come down with a cold and is already spreading the virus.
    * not pick up other people's used tissues.

    This is an old thread.

I actually finally did get rid of that cold. It was the longest lasting cold in my life. I could have gone to the doctor, I suppose. I just like to let my body do the work so long as I'm not at deaths door. Lots of beer helps most of the time

As far as allergies go, yeah I'm allergic to a bunch of airborne stuff. I have several hepa filters in the house and use the good filters in the AC to help keep it clean. It's just annoying, not debilitating. Phoenix is one dusty place, the monsoons come around and kick up the dust storms. It's nasty.

In any case all good advice on the cold and such.

i got my winter cold a few wees back.

i have a cold for both seasons, with a period of good health lasting about 1 week in between. then i have a sore throat, either runny or constantly gooey nose, and a cough. the summer cold is also accompanied by a bitch of a headache which gets brought on if i dont drink at least half a litre of water before and after i go to bed
and so the balance of power shifts...

I am just getting over a cold. Of course I'm not sure if it was a cold. I think it could be allergies. I had it this week. I had a sore throat, then a runny nose, it was cool outside, and it was raining for the most part all week...or threatening to rain. I had the exact same thing last year with the exact same symptoms, the exact same weather conditions, and the exact same time. I found that to be really weird. What are the chances?

I don't know why, but I haven't had a cold or a flu since I was a young kid. 25 years or so. Anybody know why that might be? I've always thought it was weird. I do suffer from serious depression, I've smoked, drunk, done drugs, which I think contribute to the depression, I eat shitty food (all the time), but I never get colds or flus. I was in the army for about 8 years, from '88-'95, and I did get flu shots every year during this time period. I haven't had a flu shot though since 1995, and I still don't get colds or flus.

    hello
cold is one of the most common diseases in the world and highly contagious.
the fact that you and your daughter have it is cause you both stay in the same house and may have infected one another.
you can try some simple cures for your cold like blowing your nose often, treating your stuffy nose with warm water, staying warm and rested , gargle with hot water, and taking medicines like Aspirin
    Thanks

It's called a neti pot, but it's rather unlikely the people who contributed to this thread really care all that much since the last post was more than four and a half years ago.
