A cardiac specialist told me that Glucosamine is not proven to actually help Arthritis / joint pain at all; that the effects are simply Placebo.

It's been one hell of a Placebo to make my knees noticeably better for the past NINE years!

I feel it very quickly in them when I stop taking Glucosamine for more than 3 days!

Does anyone know about the study or have links? I suspect that there is a design flaw in the experiment - that they are not using people that fit a certain profile. Furthermore, I have a colleague that tells me he noticed a difference in his aged dog - how could the dog possibly have a placebo effect?

Glucosamine has a well documented anti-inflammatory effect.

It seems after further searching that glucosamine has had conflicting results in studies, some show a positive result while others show no effects. However, at least one review I found suggested that most studies seem to point towards the use of a combination therapy of chondroitin and glucosamine to be the most effective at treating arthritis

So you know if the chondroitin also has an anti-inflammatory effect?

I've stripped the back of my patella somewhat...too many kix in the air instead of the backsides of the religious.
