    Hi there... Can someone please explain how pain killers actually work, in detail please (I can take big words :-D )

    Well I guess that's up to the OP. If anaesthetics is what he's after then I guess he'll read your link and it's all good. But usually when people say "painkiller" they mean "analgesic", don't they? And he wants detail... the anaesthesia page isn't going to get into the specifics of NSAIAs, COX inhibitors or the like. In fact I'd be very surprised if it even mentions them. So now we've both given him options and hopefully he'll find the info he needs.

    I linked to anesthesia because analgesics are covered by a link early the article. Either way, I'm sure the OP will find what he's looking for.
