It could be. Stress may cause your stomach to constrict and because of the reduced stomach volume, some of the gastric juices may be forced into the esofagus which causes burning sensation or chest pain.
It could be the result of stress but if it persists, get it checked out. Anxiety can cause pain, yet so can heart attacks. If you are under 40, a nonsmoker and eat a relatively healthy diet chances are it's not your heart. If you are older, you can sometimes have a mild heart attack without even noticing. An obese coworker of my father's experienced this a few years ago. Symptoms vary. The truth is, it can be a very confusing ordeal. I've had panic attacks before and thought that I was either having a heart attack at the moment or soon would experience one. Anxiety itself can be a symptom of a heart attack...but it could also simply be anxiety.
The Mayo Clinic list typical symptoms:
Chest discomfort or pain- This discomfort or pain can feel like a tight ache, pressure, fullness or squeezing in the center of your chest lasting more than a few minutes. This discomfort may come and go.
Upper body pain- Pain or discomfortmay spread beyond your chest to your shoulders, arms, back, neck, teeth or jaw. You may have upper body pain with no chest discomfort.
Stomach pain- Pain may extend downward into your abdominal area and may feel like heartburn.
Shortness of breath- You may pant for breath or try to take in deep breaths. This often occurs before you develop chest discomfort.
Anxiety- You may feel a sense of doom or feel as if you're having a panic attack for no apparent reason.
Lightheadedness- You may feel dizzy or feel like you might pass out.
Sweating- You may suddenly break into a sweat with cold, clammy skin.
Nausea and vomiting- You may feel sick to your stomach or vomit.
Some heart attacks have the classic symptoms as portrayed on television or in the movies — where someone clutches their chest and writhes in excruciating pain. Not all heart attacks announce themselves so clearly, though. In fact, most heart attacks begin with much more subtle symptoms — with only mild pain or discomfort. And your symptoms may come and go. Don't be tempted to downplay your symptoms or brush them off as indigestion or anxiety.
Getting treatment quickly improves your chance of survival and minimizes damage from a heart attack. Don't "tough out" these symptoms for more than five minutes. Call 911 or other emergency medical services for help. If you don't have access to emergency medical services, have someone drive you to the nearest hospital. Drive yourself only as a last resort, if there are absolutely no other options.
As you can see, only a doctor can ultimately tell you if you are having a heart attack or not. I experienced vomiting, nausea, anxiety, tightness in my chest and stomach, etc. For nearly a year I felt this way! Yet I'm still here today writing this message to you. Anti-depression/anxiety drugs work wonders.
There is also a problem that is very common, I forgot the name of it, but it is caused by two layers of tissue in the lungs not being lubricated enough and they stick.
This causes rather painful fealing, it can last for a few minutes or a half hour. It is more scary than threatening though, it is not harmfull at all.
It is very common. sorry about my lack of real information on it
Sounds like you're talking about pleurisy and it's not all that common or normal. It usually comes along with viral infections where the pleural lining of the lungs is inflamed, causing friction on ventilation. I've experienced it a couple of times myself, once when I had pnemonia, the other with bronchitis. Worst pain I've ever felt.Originally Posted by marcusclayman
Yash, is the pain eased when you have a seat and catch your breath a bit? Does the pain come with physical activity? In any case, definitely something to mention to your doctor.
Yeah, that name, pleurisy, sounds very familiar. I don't know where I got my original information from though. Thanks, I've been spreading falsity to loved ones... Yikes!
Ya, the pain definitely gets eased after few minutes and this usually happens when i have a debate with someone, argument on any subject or when i get angry with the other person !! ^_^Originally Posted by Kukhri
This pain is not usual at all, it only comes once in a blue moon !! :-D
I hope your loved ones ^_^ didn't follow your false information !!!!Originally Posted by marcusclayman

yeah i was sitting here going 'that sounds like pleurisy" which ive had before and definitely isn't fun but my doc said that usually came along with an infection. I got it at the same time I had bronchitis.
I get that same feeling too in my chest every now and then and Ive always attributed it to stress and so has my doctor. But then again im only 22 so, like stated before, if youre older you should have it checked out. better safe than sorry.
I'm 18 and i don't get that much amount of pain, as i said it happens rarely, only when i get in stress or depression but other wise I'm totally fine.Originally Posted by salukigirl
I hope same thing is in your case too.

I would suggest seeing a Dr, since there are many symptoms that can be indicative of several problems. I'm no Dr but even if I was, I'd not want to mislead someone on the 'net due to lack of proper examination
hi everyone!
I am a sport lover and I am always on the field playing with various sports which include Trampolines. And this few days ago, I am having this mild pain in my chest which radiates to my shoulder that last up to 3 minutes. Do you think I still go into sports and other recreational activities?
Hello Friend,
Myself Lucy Reddy.yes this chest pain can be because of stress or tension. My advice would be, you should visit to a chest pain specialist doctor. As i know there are many other diseases related to it.If you visit a Doctor you will better come to know about the exact problem.I always believe that "prevention is better than cure".
me also feel like that ,
but i don't want to suggest you any thing ............
you should have a visit to a expert doctor ..........
