In my admittedly short life i have experienced a variety of odd sleeping patterns, one thing that i noticed is that after approximately 5 hours of sleep, I can function at full efficency without feeling tired.
However i find it hard to sleep for just 5 hours and alarms fail to wake me up. So i considered this idea.
Rather than 5 hours each night, Would have a night of non sleep followed by a 10hr? sleep the following night be possible? after 10 hours i theorize that i would easily be roused, the sleep I recieve would be exactly the same and therefore there should be no side effects.
Admittedly i have little technical knowledge on sleep theory. can someone comment on this idea

    everything is mathematical.

It was difficult to understand what you wrote. The average teenager should receive 8-10 hours of sleep a night. As a side note, I read an interesting article that said one should always wake up after 7:00 am because that is when the stress hormone Cortisol peaks.

I don't think your plan will work, organic God. The type of sleep we have varies through the course of the night, so that ten hours is not equivalent to two periods of five hours. Moreover the biochemical changes in your brain and body if you avoid sleep for one night in two will screw up any advantages you might gain.

Of course, the best thing is to try it, but I shall be surprised if it works for you. (Note, however, that everyone has a particular individual sleep pattern that will work for them - there is an outside chance this might be yours.)

By the way, I found what you wrote crystal clear in every regard.

There's a difference between a theory and some idea you had.

On a more productive note, those who sleep on average 5 to 7 hours a day tend to live longer than 8 to 10 hour a day sleepers. If it works for you, great.

Some say the Uberman Sleep Schedule is the ideal sleep pattern: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-...p-schedule.htm
