    Hi !! everyone !!
    Well.. i wanted to ask few points about LASIK eye correction treatment :-
    1. Is there any one who can share his/her experience with LASIK.
    - How has your treatment been, so far.
    - Is there any side effect with LASIK treatment
    2. If a person has a weak distant vision. and after the LASIK treatment, if his eyesight becomes normal. Now my question is that, if the person's near vision is fine, but after the correction of distant vision will it affect his near vision !!

    Thank You !!

    Well my sister in law had it and her vision is fine. She had to put eye drops in for one month, but her eye sight is perfect. At least for now and that was done about half a year ago. But sometimes they can go wrong, my sister in law was lucky I would think. I don't think Laser eye treatment has been around long enough to be aware of any long term side effects. So short term, its good. But for long term, I and others have no idea.

    If you read my other post on Lasik, you will find I have recently had it done, and find it to be amazing! As for the weak-distant you mentioned (not really sure what you mean) I had a 9 diopter, which basically means I was legally blind without glasses or contacts. Also, I wore reading glasses with my contacts to see things up close. After my Lasik, I see 20-20 and do not need glasses to see close; be aware that the surgery does not usually correct for near-sightedness, you will likely still need glasses to read if you need them now.

    No side-effects, except for a lighter bank account. Best money I ever spent.

    I've got a question too, if you don't mind me hijacking your thread for just a bit ^_^;

    Does the treatment hurt? I've got a very, very low pain-border, so to speak.

    Here is a listing of the risks associated with the procedure, from the FDA

    http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/lasik/risks.htm

    If you are very near-sighted, like me, you have a slight advantage when focusing on very close objects - closer than reading distance - if you take off your glasses. You can focus closer than a person with 20-20 vision. You will lose this ability after your vision correction, and then you might need reading glasses or a magnifying glass to do the same thing.

    As you get older, you will find that you lose the ability to focus and will need bifocals or trifocals. This is true whether you get the Lasik or not, although with the Lasik treatment you will be able to focus on distant objects so you could probably still go without glasses for some activities.
