    Hello!

I have one question for you.

Is the monitor (of your PC) "destroying" your eyes?

Are there any research or statistics relating this question?

    Thank you.

In the olden days 1988, it was known by those in the biz that excessive pc use affected eyesight, but can never be proved due to trying to eliminate all other possible causative factors ie impossible. But working in an Opticians, you could see the pattern. We sold special coatings at that time to combat the problem.

I think screens possible have the necessary protection built in now, back in the day you could buy a clip on screen filter.

i'm now using a PC of various descriptions for web development on a daily basis since about 2001, and haven't suffered any adverse effects to my eyesight
(mind you, my eyesight has been crap since i was 14, but i haven't needed any change to the prescription of my lenses for the last 20 years)

I have LCD monitor, and since I am using it longer than 5 hours, I am afraid that it could cause change in my eyesight. Thanks for the replies.

Best way to keep your eyes in shape is to focus on different things. The problem with eyesight deterioration is partially to blame that you're continuously and for longer periods of time focusing on, what, 20 - 30 centimeters away? If you focus on distant things frequently, it should help counter bad eyesight

I find that making short brakes from time to time to look at "real things" (i.e. outside of window)
makes my eyes more relaxed and able to withstand more computer looking after the act.

    You should try that...

I've noticed at work on the PC and at home on the xbox, that when I look away from the screen, it takes me a few seconds to focus on things in the distance. Thank you for the advice.
