Do scientists travel on planes too much, jetting around the world to attend conferences? Or does the benefit offset the carbon footprint?

Check out this video about a scientist who chooses not to fly! instead he chooses some alternative methods.

I think pro sports teams are much worse on the environment myself what with all the flying they do.

At least they do it for their profession. What about the millions of people travelling just for fun? I reckon, it would be hard to put every travelling scientist on a container ship like this strange guy in the video. I wonder, how he manages to get anything done at all.

Video conferences are becoming more common, and are a direct product of technology.

There was an Adobe Media Player free to download. On this player small conferences are being
broadcasted attended by folks that claim to discuss how to save the environment from pollution
    and there like.

They are discussing what yet has been proven quite a while ago instead of sharing their own
thoughts. Like in school, when you go to some class not being prepared. That's what I find
annoying since I think they get to all the places knowing they contribute to the devastation
rather than to be doing any good. They're getting this little grin on their faces you know.
    .
At one show I thought why don't they, for example, don't think about some computer program
or programming to enable members to draw notes on a common screen. Or write something or
upload or download something everyone invited could or had contribute(d ) to.

They could stay where they are and meet that way.

    Hi sharon333,

This would be good. Hopefully they do hear about the advances that have been made and make use of those.

With the internet advancing i think this number is going to change, with improved internet connection and webcams it is going to be a lot easier and chepear to have video confrences
Motivation will almost always beat mere talent in the scientific world.
