Turkey day? Is that the new politically incorrect name for 'Thanksgiving'?
I regret not not being a neo-conservative christian and living in America. I could have eaten a whole turkey this evening. Still, I will be celebrating Sinterklaas soon, a Dutch catholic festival equal to Christmas, where we celebrate a Saint who gave lots of stuff to kids by giving presents to one another.
So, instead of thanking God for what he gave us, we give stuff to each other. I like it better that way.

Has the purpose of Thanksgiving become something else? I think it evolved into eating Turkey to make yourself tired, to go to bed early and get up for the huge sales in the USA. I'm sure this wasn't the original intent, but every holiday now fits into the picture of marketing and product movement/retail.
I think that about sums it up. Only good thing that comes out of it is perhaps getting the family together.Originally Posted by 2112

You must be from the south of the Netherlands.Originally Posted by HomoUniversalis
A logical assumption, were it not for the fact that I am atheist, and not catholic. Thus, I could take that stance from any geological location, unaffected by the concentration of catholic christians in the south.Originally Posted by DEChengst
Still, you are correct. I'm from Maastricht.
