A line from one of my favorite movies, "The Omega Man", is "Definition of a scientist: A man who understood nothing, until there was nothing left to understand" What are your thoughts on this statement?

I like that. It's very profound. Other than that I don't know what to say.
in what way profound ? a nice play on words maybe, but as to deeper meaning, i don't know
The deeper meaning, at least from my point of view, is that unless you know everything, you don't know anything.
The line was said by a character who blamed science & technology for the destruction of the world.
i know Matheson's book has that Frankenstein-in-reverse feel about it
but to imply that a throwaway remark from a movie can be expanded to all of science in the real world is overextending the simile somewhat
It is quite plausible that that is exactly what will happen. Although from how many movies have been made about that sort of thing you'd think it was already pre-determined.
The script writer wanted the character to say something profound, so he came up with something that Shredder would say. I have received an intolerable amount of religious e-mails from friends that are drenched with the same kind of thing.
It's sexist bollocks.

Sounds vaguely like the saying that earning an advanced degree is: learning more and more about less and less until one knows everything about nothing.Originally Posted by WVBIG
