Remember: It ain't a mystery if its been solved.

For me the greatest mystery is life itself. Not lifeforms, DNA, genome, etc. but the actual spark or whatever it is that animates what is basically a few grains of dust. Until we figure it out I can't see something like life being created in a lab. We can probably build it but can't get it to run.

Please, if you will, feel free to indicate what you feel is the greatest mystery of all time.

All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

I agree with you on that, I once heard someone put it as “Somehow atoms have found a way to replicate themselves into complex structures that can contemplate there own existence.” That’s not the exact quote but its something similar to that. That's a pretty good mystery if you ask me.

Why the friggin' heck does my washer always return an odd number of socks when I feed it with an even number??????

Must be some cross-dimensional tunnel to a place where people experience the opposite.

well ya see, no matter how pointy the organ is, the flow of urine probably will not have enough pressure to make the urine go straight from the organ, it will lose air space, and crash on the seat.

    im my experiance.

This happens to me too and once I did an experiment to prove to my ex that the socks were being magicked away. I tied pairs (he observed) together then sealed them in knotted pillow case. When wash done, got pillow case out (still knotted) examined contents, and as usual - odd socks.

This happens to me with T-spoons also.

The creatures inside the walls take them. Shit........ I'm getting cavity wall insulation soon????? What will happen to those creatures???

Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.

Yeah, but...why do we still have them? Why not just degenerate features that aren't needed, rather than perpetuating them?

The greatest mystery of all time is one that will stand the test of all time.

I think you are right: life is, because as we are, alive, and no one knows what the purpose is. Death for everyone is certain, and thus not really a mystery.

Death wouldn't be a mystery, especially to ghost, because as a ghost you would still look at life and say, "what was the point of that........what are those people doing".

The "aspect" of life though that would be mysterious would be something that is never solved............

Take the ultimate life, for instance, "God".......and now make that a mystery.............even to God. God therefore would think, "now what do I do"..........."I know, I will let people be free and let them decide, of course so as not to have me destroyed"............

But the thing is, people don't know what to do, so, yes, I agree, life is the greatest mystery...........especially when no one wants to throw the power baclk to God to get things happening in a less mysterious fashion.
Does a theory of everything therefore need to be purely theoretical and only account for the known laws and forces in handling the improbability of fortune telling?

the www feature below can explain it better.

Why, after all this time, haven't we found a better way to settle disputes than violence?

If 9 out of 10 people are peaceful, and #10 decides to try to kill one of them, and they're locked in a room, (earth) If the victim doesn't want to die, there will be a two person violence. If someone else also wanted what #10 wanted, or if someone joined the victim against #10, maybe there will be more.

If someone manage to convince #10 that the victim would be more useful alive than dead, then nobody dies.

Now, what's true for 10 persons in a room isn't for millions of them on a planet.

you can't control people though. You got a homicidal insane man with power, troubles bound to happen.

you can solve a problem with violence if violence doesn't come at you.

    Just did.............

Good: New hairdo, better than your avatar.

Bad: The background is a little bit too bland for my taste. I mean, I hate those websites where you can't see the content under all the blinking, blinging, moving, flashing and jittering but I'd rather go with something a little bit more......I dunno....lively? This Beige.....not my cup o' tea. And the Type could also use some Chili.
