Scientists can be motivated in to apply scientific knowledge for the benefit

    of peoples health X

Sure as long as they can create new drugs to cause even more problems and get rich in the process while destroying the enviroment

    The nations X

Oh , you mean like military weapons so the banks can make more money by sending others than themselves to war and destroy economic stability ?

    The world X

Whose world ? The instutions that give them their pay check ( See Above )

    Nature X

Is that why spieces are going extinct ?

    Industries TICK - What a suprise !!

    And this is progress ?

    Or Greed

    How much is enough ?

Not until you destroy everything and everyone by the hand of your own creation , so far you've done more damage than any pre scientific culture in history.

You can tell you grand kiddies how great all your theories were if your lucky enough to see them .

Or maybe the Artelics will come into being sooner than you imagine and eradicate you the same way youve destroyed the world, now that would be ironic .

Suffice to say enough is enough.

I don't think it makes much sense to rant against science on a science forum considering the way you communicated this to us was because of science in the first place. So kudos for science to enable pessimists to express their opinion to the world.

Screw the Artilects. Give me something like the Borg.

All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

'Tis mostly a result of population growth, which has been happening far longer than any particular scientific endeavours.

It is also rather ridiculous to level a charge at ALL scientists in general. There are many, many different fields whose members would be called scientists, but the work they do, the things they study, and even the cultural ethos they have, can vary dramatically. A military weapons engineer and a conservation biologist and a biomedical drug developer are three very different animals, so to speak.
Man can will nothing unless he has first understood that he must count on no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth.
    ~Jean-Paul Sartre
