There have always been derailed idiots, it's nothing new. When playing computer games becomes more common you'll also have more idiots playing computer games, hence more of these tragic scenes.

Anyway I think it's a lost opportunity that this thread was started without a source of real information or data, it would've given the discussion a head start which it now lacks.

a bit fake? it looks very fake to me. I have a game obsessed little brother and my boyfriend was game obsessed in college, to the point where he had to uninstall warcraft 3 because he was playing it all day long and not going to class. I've known several guys with similar histories. It's a kind of crazy to be sure, but they don't really throw temper tantrums like that.

I got the modified video above here I think this is the original below and seriously, either he's one angry German kid, or he's a really good actor.

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kBVmfIUR1DA

You may think this is cruel of me, but I think it's hilarious! I know I shouldn't think that but... XD

good actor? c'mon, how hard it is to scream your brains out at a monitor and bang around a keyboard? he probably thought it was hilarious too.

I doubt it, it does look genuine.

Svwillmer, you don't have a track record for accurate observation. I've read, years ago, many stories as to who this kid is. Ranging from some autistic kid obsessed with whatever game he was playing, to it being staged.

But here are some protips: The keyboard numpad light isn't on. This suggests the computer is off. You do not hear a computer fan noise. You do not see the monitor. Furthermore, light from the sun would reflect off the monitor (suggesting that isn't the usual way it is turned) and obscure anything on it.

Need I continue listing visual evidence you don't need Sherlock Holmes for? The computer isn't even running. It's staged. QED.

EDIT: after observing a bit more, I noticed that either the light from the window or the computer monitor bouncing off of his glasses. Since it never gets a clear shot, and since what bounces off his glasses looks like light from the window, I suspect this proves the monitor is off.

On another point entirely...that keyboard is obviously a very old model. With how he's ravaging it, it's obvious he doesn't care. Again, probably staged. If he was always like this he wouldn't even HAVE a computer.

Then progressing to the comical "where's the ESC key" search...come on. This isn't staged HOW?!

Doesn't. Just suggests that keyboard is knackered? (I wonder why )

The sound of the video recorder picking up the background noise would balance out. His computer fan could be knackered and it not work (which is probably why it takes so long to load up). Besides his noise alone is enough to cover it all up.

Is there a need to? If you look at his glasses before the game starts they are reflecting white light (windows XP/2000?). Later on he looks dark because Unreal Tournament is a dark game and every no and again you can see light shine up his glasses, as if he's firing a gun or something.

Not so, my TV at home being at 45 degree angle to the window doesn't glare unless its a really sunny day, and it does not look sunny where he is at all. Plus, him being in the way and stopping a lot of light reach the camera makes the window look brighter than it is when he does move out of the way (ever used a digital camera in a dark room then gone outside?).

How did you reach that conclusion Jeremy? I don't even see the computer.

Again, the same reason. Both the window and camera would have to be at perfect angles to reflect off his glasses to suggest no light comes from the monitor, which only happens one point during the video (when windows starts the game).

Of course he doesn't car, he's probably been raised to think that way (what German doesn't no offense to them). I think I covered this in psychology once upon a time, something about cultural backgrounds to something...anyway.

Maybe his mother is like all other mothers that don't give two hoots about their kids and so shut them up by giving them what they want (perhaps his mother doesn't see whats going off because it happens EVERY day and shes gave up the ghost). Your point just goes to show that he just has irresponisble parents.

He's very angry and suddenly a button he really needs is lost, so he remains calm in looking for it becuase he needs it to fulfill his want to play that game correctly. I suspect he does this with his mother too when she doesn't give him something he needs (his needs and wants are diffrerent in respect to his attitude). He says "where is the escape button?" as if to say 'please don't stay lost I'm really sorry-I need you!' This may seem vague but I used to get frustrated with games and you develop a sort of 'meekness to things that YOU have broken (not that I have-getting the playstation to work once upon a time and stomping on it, then saying I'm sorry when I stopped making it work).

Overall I'd say that this video was secretley filmed by his parents to show the kids counsellor or something-but when he went to that meeting he perhaps acts like an angel and so the kids parents needed proof. There you go. Any reason as to how it got put on The Internet is beyond me...maybe Germans like embarrassing their kids?

Long post here I know, just thought I'd let you know the world is not Black and White. Please don't go off on one Jeremey. Or say "I wouldn't even oblige you with that priveldge". Or f@%k off. Cheers.

PS. Sherlock Holmes does it again.

I heard a windows error sound while he was banging away at the keyboard

Hah. Hah. Hahahhahaha. I've never seen a more blatant case of "I know I'm wrong but I refuse to admit it". Your "interpretation" of his behavior is so hilarious in itself it can't be serious.

I admitted my observation of the monitor might be wrong, but I think when you started discussing "behavioral traits of germans" you completely lost your mind. Thanks for the lulz. Lets just hope you really AREN'T serious.

I heard something similar, but I think that was background noise. I've reanalyzed it a few times, and it's really difficult to say. As you hear a number of such noises throughout the video even when he isn't hammering on the keyboard.

Crimony guys, that video is not only old, but also fake. It was done as a parody of some of the people who complained on the Unreal forums after Unreal Tournament was released (which, as some of you may know, was a buggy piece of vomit). I can't remember if this was done before or after UT2k3 was released, though. However, the original was done for UT, and then obviously, as the YouTube page says, it was copped for CS.

Depending on what version of the video you get, you can hear his friends or siblings in the background laughing.

Keep poking. If I remember I'll try to link a few tonight when I get home.

Search for "Unreal Tournament Kid" or such.

Back when I was a heavy UT head, some folks put sound-clips of this on the servers to fire during maps. Hilarious.

Speaking of UT...UT3 is out! WooHoo!!!

This just in guys, if you look at the top right of the screen you'll see that where it says 'about this video', its says 'he staged it-FAKE-FAKE-FAKE'.

The funny thing here is that after all that analysing no-one here noticed it XD.

Yeah, it certainly took long enough for someone to point that out.

BTW, if you have played UT at all, you can clearly hear the UT menu soundtrack playing while the kid is yelling.

I searched around YouTube, but there's so many damn copies of this thing it is pathetic. I only have 30 secs to search before I had to run off.

There's a clip somewhere that shows the kid coming into the room, and he immediately starts yelling (in German) that he wants to play Unreal Tournament.

Why is there even a question about this? Are there people who really think this is real?
