In some remote way, he is linked to this image.

These are the 1st 2 clues of a little 'URL hunt' set by some friends. A new clue is posted every 2 days until I find the URL they allude to

Might have it by Christmas

    It's not Tesla.
And the bomb has nothing to do with spitting hydrogen.
(Nor does that picture for that matter. It merely shows an h2 molecule.

I can't see the picture in the opening post, so I can't say who it is. Post it again or fix it.

maybe alfred nobel looks a bit like that. his big invention had something to do with explosives. i can't help you with the h2 molecules though (or maybe nucleair fusion? (not splitting, but puting together. they're working on that).

    Heh.
    My hint didn't even help?
The answer has even been pointed out in this thread. In a roundabout way.

    Oh. Well.
If you want to cheat, I could tell you, but it's really not that hard.
What do you think of when you think of hydrogen?

I can't wait til you guess. Becuase I have this hilarious picture that I want to show...

    You got it.
Now. Remember that it's an url hunt.
So. I suppose first we have to see if he can figure out who the picture is of.
And then if he can find the specific url.
    I did.

I'll hold off on my funny picture until he says the name.

    Alright. Bask away.

I first intended to neatly memorize the photo, and then test my memory.

But, since you want to spoil it, we'll do it your way.

    Bask now.

    Water,

You're asking me to give you the answer?
Or chiding me for being... cocky about knowing the answer?
    I'm not really, you know.
    It's actually pretty simple.
As I said, there has been a guess in this thread long before I ever posted in here that would lead one to the precise answer. The only problem is that people concentrated on the wrong significance of the guess. They didn't dig far enough below the surface.

Hah! Know what? If you have enough time, do a quiz, will you?
Post a picture and give some clues, or some other sort of quiz.
Or be creative and come up with a detective story. I love riddles, esp. those of the more detective kind where a situation needs to be reconstructed and all that.

    Surprise me!

Yes, yes. The water was a reference, of course, to his river analogy. The next image would be one of the flux in magnetic fields, but you didn't give me the chance :P

Maybe water should do one, as he won the last .

His main achievement, I suppose was Micrographica, in the spirit of Newton's Principia. Newton and Hooke were contemporaries, but not very fond of each other. Indeed, Hooke, I believe, accused Newton of stealing his ideas regarding light.

So is the clue -the "written word," but in electronic/digital form of the internet? That would be drastic version of early forms of publishing as with Micrographica, but certainly Hooke's work was more significant than the average forum post!
