What an act to follow!

Aside from the Queen’s penchant for horse flesh and her picture on the Canadian $20 bill I never followed her exploits. Charlie otoh had a hot wife at one time. Other than that I don’t know much about my new king. I heard but not sure if true that the Liz image on the $20 bill will be changed to Chuck’s.

I understand the late lady was mechanic pool in the WAX for the war effort, and had a penchant for driving like a bat out of hell. Pretty freaking awesome!

Walking outside St Edmundsbury Cathedral (in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk) yesterday, I heard the singing of God Save the King.
Overcome with a bit of emotion I went inside and signed the book of condolences for Elizabeth.

King Charles is likely to be in for a rough ride.
To handle it he needs to be like his mother. Keep calm, no politics, get up to Balmoral and out of the way.

He quite clearly meant Not you again. It was a a polite version of: "Wot? you still 'ere?"

And he knew there were cameras. As several people have pointed out, it was the King "speaking for the nation" at a moment of crisis! It may be thought unconstitutional, but frankly Truss has so obviously f*cuked the country up, so quickly, that it seems to me only fair for the King to express a bit of weary displeasure.

Of course it is unconstitutional. But as a member of the entitled classes he must think he can push his weight around.
He will find people to agree with him and so feel he is further entitled .

The UK has stuck with the monarchy (the previous monarch was such a good advert during such adversity that it is understandable) but I hope that being led by the nose by an insufferable bore will change a few minds.

I doubt he had any political opinions (except those of others probably) around Truss' tenure

It's been suggested the King was responding to presence of the cameras, with Truss trying to get some of King's popularity, given the wave of patriotism and sympathy for his majesty at present, but the King just shut that down.
Whilst the Queen for most of reign chose to remain politically neutral, this was her choice, His Majesty the King has to choose what he thinks is best. He has the power remove Prime Ministers, dismiss governments, even withhold royal assent for new legislation all at his prerogative.
There's a common misconception that as a constitutional monarchy our head of state either doesn't have any power or is somehow prevented from exercising the power that he does have, this is simply not true.
