'There is nothing in the world except empty curved space. Matter, charge, electromagnetism, and other fields are only manifestations of the curvature of space.'

    What happened to time?

The quoted statement doesn't make any more sense than Zen Kōan.

Does this quote make any sense?

"Physical objects are not in space but these object's are spatially extended

In this way the concept "empty space " loses its meaning"

From Einstein's 1952 RELATIVITY:The Special and the General Theory :a Popular Exposition

The Wheeler quote does sort of make sense to me, but I don't have the maths.

Matter is made of atoms which are virtually empty space. But what came first were not atoms.

Before the BB there may have been time (Hawking).

Empty space is then the outcome of the BB, which then expands. Atoms and galaxies are a by product.

'Spacetime tells matter how to move and matter tells spacetime how to curve' (another Wheeler quote).

If physical objects are not in spacetime then where are they?

I guess we can't answer this until we know more about dark matter and energy.

Second Wheeler quote seems to contradict the first.
