Hi all, I’d like your opinion on an idea of mine. It can be found on: http://alternativemishmash.blogspot.com. I’d appreciate your responses, be it constructive criticism, your approval, or admitting confusion. Corrections and additional knowledge will be welcomed with open arms. I don’t mind if you email or post a comment… I’m pretty desperate for feedback if you couldn’t tell.

It's quite interesting... particularly for physicists, or people who worry about renewable energy....

Fixed the link to work. I'm not familiar enough with physics to provide any comments. Ought to be interesting what others make of it.

Hi, I had a quick look, your description though is either not completely clear or I'm losing it. Is the magnet always totaly contained within the solenoid coil? - if so then the net EMF will be zero, as the field of the leading edge of the magnet cuts turns and creates an EMF, the trailing edge of the magnet also moves away from other turns, the emf generated in them collapses (producing a back emf) which is of course opposite in polarity but equal in energy and therefore cancels. If I get time I'll have a more thorough look later (when I've woken up) -

The way you have drawn the device in the second picture looks as though it will just quickly settle in the centre.

Isn't this similar to those torches (flash lights if you're in America) with a solenoid and free magnet that you shake to charge up? The spring is new though I guess.
Fry me a kipper skipper, I'll be back for breakfast!
