I've just given a large baked potato 7 minutes full power in the microwave. When I take it out and hold it in an oven mitt (it will get another five minutes after I have cut it open) I notice that, although the potato itself is not moving or vibrating as an object, there is a thrumming or vibrating motion going on apparently inside the potato - rather like the sensation you would expect standing on the edge of a rumbling volcano. This inner vibration persists for around a minute after being removed from the microwave. Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Guess - effect of heat redistribution inside. There is a lot of water inside. It may be condensing.
