The latest theory is that it was the man mentioned in this article:
    foxnews.com/science/2014/09/08/dna-testing-reportedly-reveals-identity-jack-ripper/

    Any opinions?

How did they get his DNA sample from back then?

How can you say someone did something without a trial for to do so would only show your ignorance.

I think it was a slow news day.

I also think that the quote from that article:
"The shawl has been openly handled by loads of people and been touched, breathed on, spat upon," Richard Cobb, who runs Jack the Ripper conventions and tours, told The Times of London. "My DNA is probably on there. What’s more, Kosminski is likely to have frequented prostitutes in the East End of London. If I examined that shawl, I’d probably find links to 150 other men from the area."
raises considerable doubt about the result.

My personal opinion is jack the ripper was not one but two, perhaps 3 assailants all working together, which would make it difficult for scotland yard to catch the person

if you work under the false assumption its just one person. while one ripper is in custody there are still slayings, your logical assumption would be the man your holding is innocent. Thus released with no further investigation.
