I am a complicated man. Much like the great Ibn al-Haytham, I too felt the complex moral dilemma of stand and deliver, or get the hell out of Egypt before they execute you. My current position is that of the student... and man, have I screwed up, ...a lot. But this is a science field I'm in. The science of medicine, the science of chemistry... the science of the human body. A complex object to study scientifically I assure you!
More to the point, like Alhazens Patron to the river Nile, my direct supervisor is a religious, self righteous bigot. Me being the scientific Buddhist that I am, I just meditate on her short comings, and focus on my studies... immunohematology.
This is not my choice subject, but as I failed to mention earlier, I'm studying to be a medical laboratory scientist. To my misfortune... I also happen to be in a part of the country that harbors the worst kind of intolerant mindless Christianity.
... I know, that's not very Buddhist of me to say, but I'm a scientist first dammit! My learning environment has become poisonous to me, because I am fearful of the blood bank nazi. She is easily half my size but twice as lively. I darent speak out, simply because she is supervising and grading my performance. ... She all but has me devoting myself to Christ, which secretly infuriates me, lending me to tip toe around her suffocating dogma.
Is there nothing I can do?
In the name of Dr Neil DeGrasse Tyson, someone help!
    (Melodramatic, but exceptable I hope)

What country are you in? In some countries you would undoubtedly have a potential legal solution to your problem.

    John,
The great U.S. ..Moral sinkhole that it is. South east, bible belt no less. But listen, I'm getting worked up here. That makes me or any of us no better. I probably don't have the tenacity for a legal fight, I wish her no harm... on the other hand, what about all the students that will follow after me? Where are Lawrence Krauss and Richard Dawkins when u need them?!

Since you don't want to go down the legal route I can think of three options, offhand.

    1) Discuss your concerns, cautiously, with faculty members you feel may be sympathetic.
    2) Raise with her the fact that you are enthused to be working for her, but are made uncomfortable by her ongoing references to religion. Would she consider easing up on that a little, as you feel it is likely to impact the quality of your work.
    3) Put up with it.

It's sad, that most of us in the scientific community, must keep a lid on ourselves to appease the masses, who in turn use the ipads that us scientists developed in the first place.
So I guess it's option three for now :-(

With respect, you are not appeasing the masses, but a specific member of the scientific elite. I wonder if that confusion is influencing your outlook on this.
