.....visually we wouldn't know it was there? Say for instance a life form exists that is hundreds, thousands, if not millions of times bigger than what we see as the known universe. Now I said visually so there may be other ways to detect such a thing but I think you would first have to start looking for it. Not sure if anybody has ever tried to accomplish such a task. Also do not know how humans relate size wise to the smallest of microbes or whether or not a microbe can tell where it actually is, but if it was adrift in the middle of an ocean and could see then would it be able to assess its position in its universe (ocean)?

Like whether a single cell of a human body would be able to tell if it was a part of a human body?

If we are to take the notion of infinity "seriously" then the "universe" never stops and so there is always something "beyond" (aside from the fact that we can probably never access it.)

This is an alternative to the multiverse theory perhaps - a kind of huge "Russian doll" sequence of structures.

The Big Bang (and its outworkings) would be a kind of tiny cell in the "body" of this theoretical universe ,which "body" would be but one in an infinite number of similar and dissimilar "bodies" .

Some of these overarching structures might be "living" in their own right and we would effectively be parasites at one level or another in the hierarchy.
