I am trying to learn the chemical and physical properties of a solution of Potassium Permanganate( an oxidising agent) when it is left exposed to air under normal atmospheric pressure and temp of 175-212 degrees fahrenheit. What are the composition of fumes coming out of the solution, are these fumes acidic or basic and how to test them. Thanks if anyone can help.

I rather think that in solution the permanganate ion slowly decomposes, with evolution of oxygen and formation of manganese dioxide, but you'd better check this as I am very rusty.
