i am setting a new study area up in my gf's apartment before i move in, im thinking, mid sized desk, drawers, bookshelf, tv on wall for the computer output, wireless keyboard and mouse, comfy chair, maybe some speaker for my classical music, lamp, I want it to be high tech but basically thats my plan, any ideas to give it more of a wow factor? really excited, being talking about moving in forever, finally doing it :-)

You'll need a cool office chair!

I have a Serta high back rated for something like 8-10 hours a day and it's more comfortable than my sofa. Invest in a NICE office chair.

You moving in or taking over? Three I's, 3 my's and an I'm suggests to me that you might be a control freak. Living with the gf in her apartment to what, keep her from wandering? The perfect office, perfect for you maybe.

I'm going to seriously consider standing deck for my next office--standing is a lot better for us than sitting for long hours.

I always thought a perfect office required a perfect corporation with enough cashflow to write all the expenses for the office off against.

Chuckling. Some good points but perhaps that is the only space where he is going to be allowed free rein?

May I suggest a desk grow light and some easy care plants if you have sufficient space?

Yeah, that's a really good idea, I have loads of books, I try to keep as many of them as I can in digital format but sometimes you just need something you can write all over and attack with a highlighter :-)

it will be the only corner of the apartment that is just mine, there's a bridesmaids movie poster behind where my desk will be, we "chose it together". I am taking over that corner that's for sure. After four blissful years together I know that if she was going to wander, she would have done it by now :-)

When I have to print I use my moms, I try to stay paperless, I like air, and however minute my contribution to deforestation would be it will still count.

I'd prefer a two height choice. Sort of like a kitchen bench with attached eating area - but with equal space.

I can see the benefits of standing - until there's no other option. If I'm settling into reading a longish paper or faffing about with images while designing or reworking worksheets, being able to do a bit of idle sitting back and thinking/ looking for a while would be nicer in a suitable chair.
