I liked the original Carl Sagan series when it debuted on PBS in the late 70s. I've even watched it since then, though some of the science in the show is dated. The show has not aged well for me. I can only take Carl Sagan in small doses any more. I don't know why I've changed so. Don't get me wrong, I admire how Dr. Sagan brought science to the masses. I have his novel Contact and several of his science books.

Anyhow, I won't be watching this new show, so maybe someone can post a review here and if the series is any good I'll see about purchasing the DVDs some time down the line.

Why can't you watch or tape the show?

I enjoyed the original version, but don't really see the use in a re-vamp. Fan of Tyson, and Sagan as well, would be a nice replacement for Through The Wormhole.

So long as it brings ACCURATE science to the public and does not rely on romanticized pseudo-science and improbable what-ifs to get ratings, I will watch it.

Well, it's on Fox TV -- that doesn't bode well.

Yeah, I was wondering if that was a typo...

The only thing Fox loves more than Jesus and Republicans is money. Guess they figure this one is a cash cow since Tyson is fairly hot right now.

Yes, but so is Simpson's, the program which satirizes it's own satanic network.

Well it was the first episode and it didn't really grab my attention that much, rather dry and slow. Perhaps it will pick up next week for the second episode I'll give it one more chance. It reminds me allot of the original series.

I watched it last night and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Neil deGrasse Tyson presents information in such a way that he never loses your attention. Also the style of the show as well as the animations and the way elements of the cosmos were represented (such as showing the entire past of the universe on a calender) was quite good. I'm definitely looking foreword to future episodes.

They could have just reran the original series because that is what I've seen so far with this new remake. I thought that someone would develop a new, fresh approach to this topic and get fresh new ideas in making it. But it seems that isn't the case and we are going to be looking at a duplicate of the first series which I've seen over and over already. They reran that series at least 20 times over the years and, to me, it is dated in its presentation.
