The internet allows weirdos to spout their nonsense on a science forum.

lol.. well if this going to degenerate into a slanging match, i'm not bothered.

but then you all judge me, so i judge you. to say you have an "upper hand" only makes things comical...

er.. no, but you make me laugh most of all, along with babeopath.

you follow me around to say I "contradict", when the truth is you're "upset" and "offended" when it contravenes your world view lol.. is there a reason I must care, or can't you get on in the world around you?

All green of skin... 800 centuries ago, their bodily fluids include the birth of half-breeds. For the fundamental truth self-determination of the cosmos, for dark is the suede that mows like a harvest.

I'm not following you, I browse the forums and read all new posts, it's just yours are so egregious that I've felt the need to point out you post bullshit, you have lied and that I think you're a dick who needs to grow up, stop trolling and learn to read what people post and reply to that not to the voices in their own head.

i really don't care, but then I for the LARGE part don't care if I "violate your view of life".

That is the crux here, admit it.

Considering that it was started by the lying dickhead sarnamluvu I wonder how it could have "degraded".

I've finally figured out the mystery of sarnamluvu. He's not really alive. It's code, sort of like a spambot but not as intelligent. It just generates random words into sentences that, of course, make no sense at all.

The thing I hate about modern society is the evil habit people have of chewing gum and the spitting it on the sidewalk.
    Horrible habit.
If you step on it the darn stuff sticks to the souls of your shoes and from then on you make tacky noises where ever you go for an eternity.
And that is like, forever, dudes.

Well, I have to say I'm gratified that the OP was a bit more structured and positive than we too often see.

The only one on the list that really gets my goat is celebrity culture. It seriously affects schoolchildren in a really negative way. If anyone's ever seen a rerun or a sample of those programs in the 50s and 60s which were, in reality, quite condescending and sometimes not very nice to kids, you should notice the difference then and now in children's ambitions. Kids back then wanted, when they grew up, to have jobs they were familiar with and were, for the most part, pretty realistic. Some of course wanted to be a fireman or drive trains or whatever, but being a postman or a teacher or a builder were quite common responses. Nowadays a lot of the kids I've dealt with seriously thought they would play for Real Madrid or be "famous" for something - anything - vaguely conceived and hopelessly unrealistic. Funnily enough, the really talented kids who were already involved in interstate or international competition for some sport or another never said things like this.

And it's personally annoying when I want something undemanding to read when I'm out for a coffee or something. We used to refer to Women's Weekly as the knit-yourself-a-royal-family magazine. But practically every magazine that's not a specific interest like science or gardening or craft projects is just celebrity dreck. There's nothing to read in them, so I buy a sudoku or logic puzzle book instead.

I would probably agree with that.

It sets totally the wrong sort of priorities when our kids aspire to play football or be an actor more than a job which contributes something significant. It's the timeless pursuit of money and fame, I suppose.

Yes. And people today don't know the difference between a "hero" and a "celebrity".

As an avid fan of football, nothing irks me more than calling these guys who went from living in poverty to making millions concussing heads playing a game "heroes".

Celebrity culture, excessive materialism, excessive hedonism and me culture and anti-intellectualism (how is science not cool?)... oh and since i'm from the UK, the chav, this creature has serious issues which is probably the result of above I just listed (I mean it in the attitude sense not the class sense).
