He was clever, fired his QC, took over and won, three new presidents, and awarded one pound a year rent, for life. Scientific journals piled to the roof with only a narrow passage left to his bed. He claimed to have worked out, from first principles, that in the production (reduction) of one ton of iron, six tons of carbon dioxide was created. Does this sound correct to you. If one takes into consideration mining, transport, firing the furnace, etc., sounds feasible ? A more simple calculation would be required to work out how much carbon dioxide is created in, turning iron into steel, in a Bessemer Converter, melting the iron and blowing oxygen threw it to leach the huge amounts of carbon, needing to be removed, so as to produce steel. I wonder how much carbon dioxide is produced, can you help with the calculations, from first principles, then make a guess at the inefficiencies. Please help, I need to know. I would like to see the maths. During a lecture at Aston University thirty years ago, the professor stated that it required two thousand kilo watt hours to produce one cubic inch of iron, twenty five to eight for aluminium, five to eight for plastics, is this near enough correct ? If so this means that making twenty pence worth of two pence pieces uses more energy than I use in a year. It appears that those in charge are suffering from over active right hemisphere mono-polar, bilateral dis configuration. Almost certainly as a result of learning to spell, read, and write the English (UK) language, English (US) is slightly less damaging. In passing I heard, the black nite frightened the children, what a waste of my brain energy, was it, the black knight, or, the black night. Let there be light, but not at night. It would be nice to see the cosmos.

The industry estimate appears to be a little less than 2 tonnes per tonne. But I don't think this includes mining the ore. Also, do you include the impact of mining the coal as well?

This paper has some data that might help you: http://www.epa.gov/stateply/document...eel.pdf‎

I've got a connection with Northamptonshire, my pc was originally purchased by Northamptonshire Police, and they still cant ping it.
