I've a great confusion between cylindrical lenses and spherical lenses. Please help me out! Also, please mention their uses as well.

Spherical lenses are like a sphere, or a slice off a sphere. An ordinary magnifying glass is a spherical lens. Cylindrical lenses are like a cylinder or a slice of a cylinder. A glass of water forms a cylindrical lens. For eyeglasses, spherical lenses correct problems with focal length, and cylindrical lenses correct astigmatism.
