I'm in Taipei now, on the second leg of a business trip that will take me to Helsinki, Taipei, Tokyo and then back to San Diego. (Actually with stops it's San Diego -> London -> Helsinki -> Amsterdam -> Taipei -> Tokyo -> San Diego.)

My wife's grandfather took a trip in 1930 around the world, visiting Japan, India, Africa, the Mediterranean etc. It was considered big news in his hometown (New York City) and it made the papers. It took him 4 months, which was considered a whirlwind tour. Halfway through the trip he got an emergency telegram (problems at the architectural firm he worked at) and had to run home from Greece on a fast (2 week) steamer.

Now I get on a plane in San Diego, watch a movie, fall asleep and wake up 8 hours later in London. How times change.

I'll have to get on that. For now picture a medium sized city that's gray in every direction due to heavy rain.

On the flight back from Japan to the US I'll be on an Airbus A380. First time for me. I've only seen those things from the outside, and they're huge.

I'm also traveling around the world however it is from time to time going different places at different times. I'm now off to the Mediterranean to visit Turkey, Italy and Greece and next trip will be to Japan and China next year. Have a safe and enjoyable time wherever you go.
