Slight language barrier, interested, a bit goofy, sometimes makes weird and/or slightly offensive posts.

    Interesting character.

Talks sense most of the time, good sense of humour, yellow high visibility jacket and knowledge about water might make for a good supervillain.

Although not always perfectly understandable, he seems to be in favor of creating threads with questions worth answering.

    Surprisingly unweird for a foreigner.
He talks sense for one thing (apart from a predilection for American spelling).

I still don't know what area of expertise he has. Loves to go after people he thinks are talking bollocks. Still have him slightly confused with someone that was religious and invited over by an existing member.

    Talks sense usually.

Probably quietly curses my mother if I ask him to "tone it down".

Google Chrome underlines the U.K. spelling and offers the U.S. spelling.
This is to make my posts uniform, i.e. I do not want to use U.K. spelled and U.S. spelled words interchangeably (e.g. behavior vs. behaviour).

The notion of being "too logical" sounds as a reply a crank would post in the Trash Can.

Member MacGyver's love for bacon leads me to the question what he would do if the world would run out of bacon.

MAHALO! That was interesting you posted that video. Where I live on the Mainland there are several Indian tribes. Hoopa, Yurok and I believe others. We have a fish hatchery that takes the eggs as they swim upstream, raises then plant them secretly to maintain our salmon population although fishing is regulated. When the kids were little I took them there to see how they were "harvesting the eggs". We also live on a creek there and the salmon swim up the creek yearly......interesting how they return to the same body of water!. Thank you for your kind words also. You forgot that I am also a little devil! *chuckle*.

    A woman whose knowledge about arts and music vastly exceeds mine;
an individual who likes to share her wisdom and sometimes a piece of advice that could only be learned via living a long life.
(this sentence might not be grammatically correct, my apologies for that)

A quite intelligent (especially for his age) man who enjoys learning about the same areas of science as I do. Often questions his grammar even though it's usually perfect.

Thank you for the kind words! But my attitude would not be possible if the Administrators and Moderators were not there to function as an example.
(To be honest, I too had some moronic (mostly pseudo-scientific) beliefs when I was younger.)

An excellent Administrator who by the contents of his posting does a lot of reading across the entirety of this forum. He intervenes only when needed and I have a sense that he has confidence in most people to conduct themselves with propriety and that the members of this forum are, in large part, self-policing, and will call in a member of the Moderating team at the appropriate juncture.

I will do this again since I wasn't sure this was a serious thread in my first post. Although he is the man, he also seems very well-rounded and well-spoken despite English supposedly not being his native language He and the many other mods/admin here are collectively the best group of moderators I've encountered, and I frequent many forums. He seems like he'd be fun to hang out with and learn a few things.

Looked like Justin Hawkins from The Darkness in his younger years, now one of the cosmology stalwarts around these parts (not as active as we'd all like him to be any more). Always willing to explain in great detail and a nice guy.

PhDemon...what can I say....little theatre arts girl going against the big guns....and not a learned science person, ...ok except in my field where there is sciecne, but totally differerent. There are a few of you in here, that I really admire. You are one of them.

Thanks for being patient with a theatre arts person with a whacky sense of humor that I sometimes interject when things are getting "um.....sticky?"

    Great person...you...

I have been honored to make the acquaintance of so many smart...albeit..gotta pull the humor out of you sometimes folks.

    Mahalo to you all.

A member who clearly does not understand me.

I seldom offer or accept apologies because I believe that it only encourages behavior in need of same. Mistakes are normal...we are merely mortals. Moving on now...

    To clear things up,
I knew that you were referring to the fact the members are supposed to "make a comment (...) about the poster immediately above the reply box".
However, I had already done that in post #30 and if I repeated that task, it could be interpret as a peculiar rather than a courtly description.

Of course, it was not my intent to steer this thread into another direction.

I got food poisoned by a clam on my birthday .....my BIG birthday.....damn......I understand.....the little guy is cute though!!

I never had the opportunity to eat clams, but my desire to eat sea food has obviously tempered after that incident.
"The only safe rule is to dispute only with those of your acquaintance of whom you know that they possess sufficient intelligence and self-respect not to advance absurdities; to appeal to reason and not to authority, and to listen to reason and yield to it; and, finally, to be willing to accept reason even from an opponent, and to be just enough to bear being proved to be in the wrong."

I love them.....have eaten them all my life...make a killer clam chowder (my Canadian friends...I made enough for them and the rest of the band and home canned tuna sammies for a snack after performance and I made enough CC to freeze 3 portions and *laughing*......he had 5 bowls!! NO leftovers! I love shellfish, but used to ones from home, though Hawaii's are pretty damn fresh!

Gulp!!! Theatre Whore is not a self-deprecating epithet, more like a badge of honor.
All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

More interesting than you know after talking to them. The chatbox is a good thing in that way. He's smart, and I think expessing himself correctly is sometimes difficult but he's trying really hard. He has a good heart. He can be very fun. I like him. He is a real and true "soul"! *chuckl* and worth taking the time to know!
