You were a cute kid...sorry to hear about your mom.

Oh...and I'm guessing babe is the one on the left. Due to the "tomboy" like stance.

I would guess babe to be the child on the right, only because the legs seem to be the same as the legs of the zipliner. I would have guessed raj's mom, and hence raj to also be on the right because of similarity in facial features between her and adult raj. I am also sorry to learn that you lost your mother at an early age, raj.

I only had my right ear pierced, there are very few nerve endings in an earlobe so I didn't feel anything painful.

Nice composition and flow in your video, MacGyver, and the music is an excellent fit. You seem to have a talent for video. Get the cooking and video thing happening and just maybe one of your works will 'go viral' and you will have a new career path or at least an alternate revenue stream.

Here is a photo of myself inspecting the machine which will be getting delivered in two days time, hubby having made the commitment today. An enclosed, heated cab so that he can clear snow in comfort, his 'wheelchair' as he refers to it. I mentioned it's pending arrival to my boss and he sounded as excited as a puppy, lol, offering to come out and clear the lane for us as he has experience with equipment of many sorts. Boys just love their toys, by the reaction of co-workers to this addition to the ranch.

Every Canadian spends cold moments dreaming of ways to clear the driveway without a shovel. "If I just had heating cables under the driveway, the snow would melt as it fell," you mutter. But if you want your driveway to steam like the pavement around office buildings and hotels, you'll have to dig deep into your pocket. The cost of an underground heating cable, its installation and operation is high, even when the price buys you snow melting at a rate of about three centimetres (cm) an hour at the flip of a switch.

Two brands are marketed in Canada. Pyrotenax heating cable is minerally insulated, copper clad and covered with high density polyethylene. It costs about $600 for a 168 metres (m) and it's usually made to order. Chromalox cable is insulated with PVC nylon, has a ground made of braided copper and a PVC jacket. It costs about $300 for 152 m.

In addition to cable costs, you'll have to buy a selection of contactors, and some other hardware and controls (such as an in-ground thermostat) which cost another $300.

are you kidding? I think you fit in very well. And the fact that you are not a scientist and a person of faith who keeps a level head accepts correction on things as well as giving an alternate perspective without insulting anyone or taking insult where none was intended is all the more reason why you should stay. I imagine there are plenty of people of faith who are calm rational people who can have a sane respectful discussion about science without taking every comment as a personal attack and retaliating but unfortunately few of them ever grace us with their presence. Usually we just get psychotic fundie nut jobs who think everyone is going to hell and that all scientists are possessed by the devil or something and assume if we say the sky is blue that it means we want to kill them.

Please do stay. You are a breath of fresh air. And quite frankly we nerds need some friendly free spirited chit chat to remind us that we are not drones once in a while. Please stop pretending that we are chat buddies. We are not. I have no shared any personal information about me that is not known to the entire forum. And that is that I am married. I can see now why you are suspended. Your pushiness in trying to achieve some ideal online relationship with women who are not interested in you is a quick way to get yourself set out the door permanently. I suggest you stop PMing anyone for a while. Before you get yourself branded as a stalker. Technically, following me to other sites is stalking and as I already told you in PM, please stop.

You and I have not had any meaningful chats publicly or privately. The only PMs you have gotten from me are statements of disinterest in you and this forum in general. Any further lying to this forum about the nature of your "friendship" will lead me to post the PMs I have sent to you publicly. I may not be able to post what you sent me, but I CAN post my responses. I have disabled private messaging at this point.

For the record, I suggest that no one believe this guy when he goes on about his imaginary private communications with any of the ladies on this forum. Considering what I have just read him saying about me in the threads, and knowing the truth of it, I am pretty confident that he is lying about any sort of friendship he thinks he has forged with any other ladies on this forum.
Speaking badly about people after they are gone and jumping on the bash the band wagon must do very well for a low self-esteem.

I generally agree that one can avoid much trouble by not responding. Some persons can be very obstinate and persistent in PM though and I would not want to disable my PM to others on account of such a person. I had one problem poster on another forum where mediators had to intervene. I seldom visit there any more. Only so much computer time per day and I spend most of it here.

I try to give ppl the benefit of the doubt and I did so with him, but your average person will respect the fact that you shut down your pm's, when you wish to no longer communicate. He didn't respect it and felt he could make up nonsense in the forum. He posted as though we were chatting for months. It's not always cut and dry, in some situations. Where I went wrong is when he initially asked me out in the open to email, I should have posted ..."no thanks I'm in a relationship." But, no..I felt the need to be nice and respond. But, after a few exchanges I realized I didn't want to communicate. Not a big deal, it just isn't the first time I've encountered such a scenario. I need to change the need to oblige everyone who asks me and that is for me to work on. I have trust issues but in cases like this, for good reason. lol I don't want to pm with ppl ...just want to enjoy the forum and not looking for anything more. So, it has upset me that this guy who doesn't know me from Adam would embarrass me like this. Anyway, onward upward. Should he return, I just want to be left alone by him.

I apologize to Mac for this thread going off in this direction. Have a nice holiday, everyone.

No one in there currently, but I don't put up with much nonsense....I am too old and don't have the patience for "child play" in any forum or chat.
I haven't had that problem in PM's I have had it here on the forum with Neverfly...so I just put him into iggie and the problem never blossomed. I told him at that time..that I wouldn't get in pissing match with him. I am QUITE able to ignore even a pm...and delete it and not read it.....I'm a GINGER...we are rather bull headed. *chuckle*

We are here to both serve and protect. Feel free to send any of us a holler if you are having problems with creepy and persistent PMs.
Kalster, if anyone bugs me that much I will, but I feel, as an adult, that I can deal with it without involving the moderator's....

It is nice to know you are there and I DO APPRECIATE your work!

Thanks and a MERRY CHRISTMAS to the poor man who has to dumb down science questions for me! *chuckle*

Imagination isn't short with you is it. All he did was tell you that the words you and i were using were bouncing off of one another. And that we were both actually saying the same thing. But that's ok, keep up the charade. I wonder if you acting in real life is any better than here?

Neverfly was not stalking you. Neverfly did not harrass you. Neverfly was not telling people that the two of you were in some sort of deep friendship or otherwise. He was not painting you out to be something you weren't.

To compare your petty little hurt feelings at being corrected over something scientific to what greamedon has done is sick and twisted on your part and you should be ashamed of yourself. You can play yourself up and try to sell yourself as some awesome person who takes no shit off of anyone but in reality you are just an attention seeker who can't get attention any other way than to lay on the drama. Something you went to school to learn. Get over yourself. You can buy affections and blab about your vagina all you want. That will simply nauseate me but lying about another individual who isn't here to defend himself and picking someone who is an easy target for doing so since he was banned is cheap and pathetic.

VIdeo I took today (Christmas day). It is me driving through Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is quite long and boring, so don't expect much.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

    1. You are off topic and so am I.

    2. Neverfly was demeaning and rude and didn't correct anything but he had a problem with my using the words "Aloha" and "Mahalo" which he took offense to.

    3. Get over your anger and jealousy issues.

Yes just dismiss anyone who doesn't buy your cutsie tootsie routine as being angry and jealous. Don't take the risk of considering that your actions were out of line.

The spirit of giving and Christmas cheer is strong in you, isn't it?

It's Christmas Day. You should leave the bitchy, mean, I sat on a fire ants nest without underpants attitude in that dark little box in your room for one day.

And you can't just stay out of something that has nothing to do with you, can you? I am not obligated to your holiday.

If someone was bad mouthing a person in your family and lying about them would you stay sweet and cheerful and in the spirit of christmas?

It's Christmas Day. Save the angry itchy pants for one day. Spend it with your husband and your kids. You know, be happy in their company instead of logging on and abusing people online. Give gifts or your charming and loving company that we are so fortunate to endure on this site.

Work those facial muscles that have atrophied into that angry grimace and try to smile. Go on. Try. I know you can do it!

again, mind your own business and don't tell me how to spend my day, thank you.

You can even be smart and put me on ignore. Clever little button that is, unless you just cant resist contributing to drama on the forum.

While I can't speak for seagypsy, I will however say this.

Christmas has zero significance to some people, and I am one such person. I spend time with family and friends as and when I can spare them, and I do not latch on to a specific alien holiday to do that.

I spend EVERYDAY with my loved ones. I don't wait for a holiday to do that. My family means more to me than just giving them ONE day of attention and love a year.

I don't care about Christmas. Are you implying that I am OBLIGATED to celebrate a day that i have no interest in? If i celebrated a holiday that you didn't would I have the right to demand that you behave according to the traditions of my holiday?
Actually I'll just put YOU on ignore since you are incapable of staying out of an argument that has nothing to do with you. You just love the drama a little too much.

keep in mind, she and i exchanged two posts each in this thread, and that was it.

everything since then has been you posting repetitively doing all you can to drag it out. Let it go, Tranquille, just let it go.

There are plenty of festive holidays in my culture alone for that sort of observation, and christmas isn't one of them.

I don't really celebrate any holidays at all, except Halloween, but that's because I love making costumes. If I could get a job int he art department of a movie studio I'd be a truly happy person. And halloween would likely not be that big a deal to me anymore.

I don't stop my kids from getting involved with other people who celebrate various holidays but they know I love them and they are pretty level headed. They shake their heads at kids who seem to think that love is something you get out of a box with a ribbon on it. My kids and i have been through a lot together, we have fought for each other's lives and live each day together like there will be no tomorrow. They don't take anything for granted. If i see something I want to gift to someone, I do it immediately. I don't wait for a special day. People die. And putting off special things, even just telling people how you feel about them, risks never getting the chance to share that with them.

I don't hold back. Whether it is cheerful or otherwise. I may not wake up tomorrow. and I don't want to die not having gotten everything off my chest that is there.

I do function in much the same way, but for different reasons. I join in festivities if invited, but I do not celebrate more than a handful of them. The reason I do not celebrate christmas is because I am not a christian, and that is probably the same reason why some monotheists do not celebrate other religion's holidays.

I'm not Christian either. I'm atheist. I do enjoy the experience of participating in holidays not native to where I live. And learning about ancient ones that no one knows about anymore. But Americans are holiday crazy. We have at least one holiday every month. It's insane. The unnecessary obligation that it makes people feel to behave a particular way or participate in particular customs or they are somehow not good enough is ridiculous. Holidays, back when i celebrated them, were always a source of anxiety and depression. Even as a child. Even superbowl Sunday is scary for lots of people, especially women. I watch some women literally go completely neurotic because tehy feel like they HAVE to produce the best superbowl party every or they are somehow not adequate as a wife/gf/human being. Its all about keeping up with the jones'.

Social competition is something I simply don't subscribe to. I admire Scheherezade. One of the few women I have ever encountered (even if only online) that does not seem to give a damn what everyone else is doing. She has her life. She loves it. She knows who she is and doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. I hope some day, Neverfly and I can build us a small home with our bare hands like she and her husband did. I am not materialistic. Having things never made me happy. Doing things with my own two hands, creating useful tools and ways to live comfortably without pretentious excess is what makes me feel good. That and overcoming challenges.

Good morning, peoples, and a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate the holiday. We have made it our custom to enjoy the food fads of most people, especially if they are going to invite us to the table and share, lol... Winter Solstice is more my kind of celebration because it marks the beginning of the return of the light which means longer days and more time for the horses and other outdoor pursuits. With our crazy working schedule, we don't get all anxious about celebrating precisely with any kind of ceremony but we usually have an extra nice sit down meal together somewhere close to the relevant time and occasion. Today, we are going to Mother's house in downtown Whitehorse to eat roast stuffed turkey breast and trimmings and have a visit. I offered to cook but Mother finds driving on the highway a bit stressful now (she is 78) and even getting picked up and driven both ways is more arduous than staying at home for her. Cooking for just three is pretty simple she says, as long as we are not offended by offerings from M&M's, lol.

Hey. If someone else does the cooking, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

We plan to go in for shortly after the noon hour and I will do some snow shoveling for her as we were 'graced' overnight with a white Christmas. Hubby has the Kubota (Christmas gifts for life now covered!) plugged in and will make a pass of the lane-way before it is time for us to go. I was clever enough to fill the woodbox for a day or two ahead yesterday and was all caught up on my equine sanitation so I can spend this morning a bit lazily, having a long hot shower and wrapping the gifts for Mother, just homemade food, wine and lottery tickets as she does not wish to be encumbered by more 'things' and she can share the treats with her neighbor whom she usually has in for a visit.

Here is a picture of last year's table at Mother's before the food hit it. As you can see by the wine glasses, we believe in 'blessing' the food prior to ingesting it. Hubby usually sticks to coffee so I have my own personal designated driver.

P.S. - Thank you, Seagypsy, for your kind words. I sincerely hope that yourself and Neverfly have the opportunity to realize your dreams of building your own home someday. It is truly a unique experience to reside within the memories of your own construction. It adds a completely different dimension to the experience of living, in my opinion. Almost everyone who has ever been here has remarked upon the ambiance of this location and construction.

Have a great day, all, however you choose to spend it!

This is great, pyoko! I am only a few minutes into your video and already I see that you have a lot of one way streets in your city. It is an interesting perspective to view driving from the 'wrong side of the street', lol. I really appreciate that you acted on my suggestion and got out your camera. I shall likely have more comments after I have watched the rest.

    Thank you for sharing!

I built a home for my EX and myself and within 10 years she divorced me and got the house. I will not be doing that ever again.

Watched the rest of your video and really enjoyed it, pyoko. Great driving music you added, by the way. I really enjoyed the drive through the various residential areas and noticed a number of hip roofs and other construction details of interest. Lots of greenery and I love your many types of big trees. Living this far north, we have relatively few varieties of large deciduous trees and even the pine and spruce is quite limited in size until one gets closer to the coast.

While the plants and trees are different, the building construction, vehicle models and vintage and population density are not too much different than some cities in North America that I have visited although I am sure the details such as insulation and air conditioning vary. We also have gray seagulls during the summer months and I noticed a REMAX realty sign as you drove by. It was truly pleasant going for a drive in the sunshine of Hobart, Tasmania on a totally gray Christmas morning in the Yukon. Thanks again. Time to get ready to head in to my mother's place for a festive meal.

Sorry to hear that, cosmic. There is a philosophy that it is the journey that matters and not the destination. Did you have any pleasure of the construction and the result prior to your parting of the ways?

We enjoyed building it and she lent a hand on occasion so we had a good time building it together along with a few friends. We lived in it for 5 years so we did have a little time within it and enjoyed it.

I have a tall blue glass that is the one remaining of a pair that I bought for my brother's lady to give to her for Christmas because she adored and collected blue glass items. She sadly passed away on November 20th that year and I had purchased the glasses months prior. You bet I wish that I had given them to her earlier and not waited for some obligatory 'special occasion'.

I am an atheist, so there isn't really anything for me.

However these last couple of years, I have for the first time, seen my eldest get excited about Christmas, as he watched his younger brother get into the whole thing. My eldest's first years were full of fear, and Christmas was something he had come to fear in a way. It's only been in the last few years that that fear left his eyes. While I don't believe in the religious connotation of the holiday, the day and season itself has come to mean something else for me, and most importantly, my eldest son, who now enjoys all the gaudiness and just has fun, something he didn't do when he was very little. Is it commercial? Yes. However we approach it in a different manner. For us, it is about helping out others as well as giving our loved ones things we know they will appreciate and we do that in a way that I don't particularly wish to discuss here. But most of all, it is about me being able to blind my sons with Christmas tree lights and seeing them smile and this year, it was about laughing to the point of pain watching someone chase a giant ball down the street.

That's awesome! I love the colonial architecture and the fact that the houses down there have such steep roofs compared to the houses here in Queensland. And not a palm tree in sight and everything is so green! I loved it.

While I understand and accept your reasons for celebrating a quasi-religious-commercial holiday, both seagypsy and myself have given you our reasons as to why it (in the recent conversation; christmas specifically) holds zero significance to us. Significance ties into and relies on the values we arbitrarily assign to just about everything. Some are shared, others not. Just because we do not do the things you and others do on this one particular day does not mean we do not do it on the days that do hold some significance to us but not to others.

It would be wise for all parties to be aware of this.

    Happy holidays.

I'm not whining about when we were there together its just that she betrayed me and took the house away from me then moved her new boyfriend in with her. They are still there today , married now, and must be enjoying the fruits of my labors without me.

That would be one perspective that might appeal to many. I know from personal experience that when one does the building themselves (not using contractors save perhaps for plumbing or electrical) that one has invested an amount of sweat equity that can never be matched by 'a fair market price'. I still have on file the 'blueprints' that I drew myself on graph paper using skills learned in grade 8 that were passed by the local building inspector's office and which served the purpose. (This was in 1985, before the sophisticated software of today, lol. By hand with a straight edge.)

From concept to reality, working at the sawmill pulling the green chain while the 3-sided logs were milled. Peeling them by hand with a draw knife and waiting until June before we could site the foundation and begin construction. Laying the sub-floor and the second story floor boards, building the hip trusses, strapping the roof, helping my father-in-law with 70 lb cinder blocks as we built the chimney, strapping the interior walls and finishing them, the list goes on and on.

There's not enough money in the world to motivate me to work as hard as I did, save it was in our own self-interest.

I think I can understand where Cosmic is coming from.

Had a WONDERFUL Christmas!! MY personal favorite holiday though I didn't buy a thing till after December 1st, and I get home to Cali and putting up the tree, and having performed at the hotel for two nights doing Christmas music..and the joy of seeing my kids and family that I don't get to see often, I LOVE Christmas. It isn't religious to me, it is just a joyous holiday.

We all find our own joys and every place has their special holiday....this is mine!

Merry Christmas to each of you and Happy New Year.

The following picture was taken two days ago, by one of my friends, as I was working with a 4 year old gelding, getting him used to new objects.
