Our view on homework is posters asking questions about it should do more work than people answering the question. So expect sanity checks on your proposed answers for example, but nothing that does your work for you....

    So all that being said....

    What do you think?

    Tips:
Consider the role of the mussel in the food web? What does it eat? What eats it? What role does competition play? Does the mussel change the physical environment in some way? Draw a few pictures and diagram your thoughts.

In some eastern salt marshes, mussels play a role in the stabilization of the root systems of plants near the water's edge (cordgrass). The cordgrass root system offers a vital shelter area for fiddler crabs.

Just some random information I happen to have in my head right now, but it might be pertinent. Do what you will with it.
