Thought we needed a thread for sharing random thoughts, comments, and/or general insights on life, about your day, etc.. Not many use the chat box area so thought this thread would be a nice option. Talk about whatever you like! I will go first. It's Friday the 13th! Anyone here superstitious over this day? O_o

I don't do superstitions, well not personally anyway. But I love messing with people who do believe in superstitious stuff and superstition (the superstitious beliefs held by someone else) may well have saved the lives of myself and my kids once. My Pakistani ex-mother in law believes in Jinns and witchcraft. So I told her I came from a long line of witches and that I had a jinn that did my bidding and that if she did not give us our passports and allow us to leave Pakistan that I would curse her entire family and cause her heart to explode. She already has heart problems and takes a bunch of snake oil stuff to treat it, so after that every chest pain she felt she thought I was causing it. And so she gave us our passports and told her son to send us home.

as for my daily ramblings, I went out for karaoke last night and got to sing a relatively new song (We Are Young by Fun) that I didn't know had even been made into karaoke yet. I did a good job according to the crowd so my head is a bit swollen this morning.

There is hidden meaning. What a coincidence I made my first-ever chatbox rants and now in the same 24hour span you've made this thread. Is it to draw my attention, getting me to post here? I'm excited to hear about your motivation for doing so, but I take it mostly as a compliment.

Lol seagypsy!! That's too funny. Probably wasn't funny to her. I'm not superstitious per se, except for Friday the 13th. A car door slammed on my hand when i was a teenager, on Friday the 13th and ever since, the day scares me. Silly, i know. I applaud your bravery with karaoke. I can sing ok but I'd have to be way drunk to sing karaoke. Lol

um, no. Lol no connection. I happened to notice that not many ppl post in the chat box and it might be nice to have a thread for randomness. But we are happy to see you here if that makes your day. Behave though. It would seem you have upset ppl a time or two.

I remember when that song was new, and I could do all the lyrics in full.

I used to host karaoke so I learned to sing sober pretty quick. It's hard to dj a show while drunk. The crowd seems to notice when you aren't running the equipment quite right.

My first husband "sang" Rappers Delight a lot. It was probably the only thing he was ever really good at/for. He can't actually sing but he has a good radio voice like that homeless guy that shocked people a while back. Only not as good looking as the homeless guy.

I will have to try to learn the Rappers delight though and try it. Maybe Neverfly will get it on his phone cam and we can upload it to youtube.

Only recent movie I have seen was Kick Ass 2. I thought it was pretty good but it's target audience is probably teen girls. But I saw it with my teen daughter so it kinda worked out.

Yesterday in Developmental Psych, spanking came up in the lecture. There was a little debate about it, anyway... One peer in my class said that it worked on her, and her siblings. She closed her statement with, "Now that I'm grown up we discuss things like adults, so they don't spank me anymore." I'm still laughing about that.

If you like hot female singers this should brighten your day. Besides this video is getting more YouTube hits than any other video and I enjoyed it very much.

A dumb person mistakes themselves for being smart, a smart person knows themselves to be smart, but in the end everyone thinks they're smart. So in other words your statement is incredibly redundant.

And someone who happens to agree with me will say that my knowledge of numerous topics is without reproach. A Bigfoot believer will say another Bigfoot believer's knowledge of numerous topics is without reproach. Albert Einstein will say Thomas Edison's knowledge of numerous topics is without reproach. Christians will say their preacher's knowledge of numerous topics is without reproach.

I pointed out the redundancy of your comment, by mentioning that agreeing with many of another person's ideas/thoughts is enough for them to say "his/her knowledge of numerous topics is without reproach". You agree with him and thus think he's smart because you think you're smart(since everyone on the planet thinks they're smart, whether dumb, average or smart). Your statements are lacking of substance.

Oh! You are just referring to an iPhone. It sounded like you were picking on all Apple products. In any event much of your complaint is coming from how you are using the product. I don't use Apple products, but not because I don't think they aren't good. I do know people with iPhones that swear by them and can't wait to buy the new models as soon as they can get them.

When it comes to posting on forums I need a computer with a keyboard and I prefer a desktop with a mouse and the fastest connection I can afford. I've always used MS operating systems and don't want to change my old set ways. But let me ask you. Is there any way you can test drive new phones before you lock yourself in on a 2 year contract?

@ bad robot;I agree, a computer for posting on the forums is best. For example, I can't copy and paste or multi quote without losing my place or getting kicked off the Internet, while using the iPhone. Thx for your thoughts to it.On another note...Friday the 13th is past us....and knock on virtual wood, nothing bad happened.

I find the joy, sometimes even in the pain.

Its after midnight. I should go startle my sleeping daughter to tell her happybirthday. She hates to be woken up after she has fallen asleep. But I am a cruel mean mother who tortures her children in order to prepare them for the harsh realities of adulthood.

And I thoroughly enjoy pestering her. She does this thing with her face when she is mad. I just wanna post it on youtube some day.

You know if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.

wegs, R1D2 also uses a phone for posting and the reason he doesn't post in this forum, is he has trouble he doesn't have in the SF forum.

One thing you might try and do is start a topic in both forums just for people that posts with their phones and compare phones and notes on how they work and who knows maybe you'll find out some info that will help with your next phone selection.

Regarding the ignore feature. I have tried using it before, but I could still see the person's comments in quotes, that other ppl quoted. So, it's not bullet proof. :/

I had surgery last Monday. Cataract for right eye, which would be a piece of cake, if not for they are my eyes! *L*

I have acute advanced and not stabilized glaucoma.

I have had 216 laser holes drilled into each eye.

I had Ahmed implants in both eyes complete with chemo shots following surgery, into the eye, for a month (was supposed to be 6 weeks but I had some very adverse reactions...like seeing four of everything...trust me it's a big big bummer!!))

Then I developed cataracts from the Ahmeds and I went from 20/25 to almost legally blind in my right eye in 3 1/2 months. The lens they had to build had to deal with all the previous surgeries.

Standing now. 4-6 months for definitive eye prognosis as to sight.

But I can now see out of my right eye.

    Now my left to go.

Then the Ahmeds should fail in about a year...and the circus continues.

My anesthesiologist gave me TWO hugs and big smoochies after this last surgery...seems I fight being under when I am scared shitless. Dang..who'd a thought!

I had cataract surgery in my left eye only about 23 years ago, but I didn't have any other problems. But I can relate to how you feel about it.

I'm sorry to hear babe, I've had you in my thoughts. Eye health is something I often take for granted, never have had any issues. Like you say, I think the first few weeks things might be a little rough, and then, hopefully, you'll be on the mend, chica! ((big healing hugs))

There would be no horizon...as the horizon is the point where the curvature of the Earth drops below the line of sight.

You would just see as far as your eyes allowed. The distance would fade away.
That one sounded good to me.

There would be no horizon...as the horizon is the point where the curvature of the Earth drops below the line of sight.

You would just see as far as your eyes allowed. The distance would fade away.
That one sounded good to me.

So, it would seem as if you were surrounded by fog?

My eyesight hasn't gotten that bad yet.

Actually I can't really imagine what that would look like. But I did read a Scifi story once that was based on living inside a very large sphere. I think Dyson was mentioned. I can't remember the horizon description but it was weird.

In my first year of college, there was a huge gathering of students for our introduction to philosophy class.

The lecturer asked "who said"- something, dont quiet remember. I raised my hand filled with bravado and said loudly with 500 other students in the hall watching me "The answer is ofcourse, Aristotle, the father of philosophy". Lecturer said "Correct!"

The point? When I sat down I was a sweatting nervous wreck - as I was simply guessing.

My random comment (and action) of the day is that I just finished reading this entire thread, having missed it's start while I was working graveyard shift. In other related news, I have installed 14 of the metal fence panels before being held up by rain and my Lithium Ion Battery powered chainsaw has not yet arrived. I require that implement of destruction for the removal of the existing post and rail fence that the metal one is replacing.

A battery power chainsaw! I have my doubts about how that will work out. Give me a good old reliable gas powered chainsaw anytime.

    I like the outfit...sexay!

Speaking of dressing up...anyone here attend any costume parties during Halloween? Since I'm dating someone, we are planning to attend a party or two...and guess what I'm dressing up as? I bet you can't guess.

If it works as well as my Makita cordless power tools bought this summer, I'll be quite pleased enough. The reviews say it will run for up to 35 minutes or 150 cuts through 2 x 4 on a single charge. That's pretty close to the same as my old Husky 45's. I will not have to mix and store gas, no more deciding if it needs to be choked prior to starting etc. I have the high speed battery charger coming. Just lock and load, baby, and we are good to go! Yes, it has a 12" bar and rated to only cut 8" wood, but what can I say? I've got nothing to prove and I hate wasting time. This tool will work for ME and that's the chief factor in this decision. I'm the one doing the yard work and construction and this tool looks to be good for my needs. I did reams of reading and research before I elected to get one. Now, I'm getting impatient because they are not very easy to come by, lol... I will post my findings once I have had a chance to field test the machine.
