If dreams have meaning, what about this one?
note: this dream is from a friend of mine. So "M" is to indicate him. he experienced it as first person perspective.

"M" is inside a restaurant w/ a prominent bar. Its rather noticeable and the place is full, though not packed. A news report appears on the TV, announcing a disease outbreak. Distracted by a frantic man who had recently ran into the building.

The man tells everyone, "you guys better be careful." in an instant, the man is attacked from the entrance. it is a zombie.

Everyone runs every which way. There is a momentary black out, but not long. Still in the restaurant, "M" now holds a little girl's hand. Can not see her face due to her long hair. There is also a woman near by, w/ short black hair. the woman's face is disturbing. can't explain it better than that...not mutated or ugly or etc. just unlikable.

The bar tender pulls a lever, creating a huge black void. Some darkened passageway can't quite explain. Still the three run. Behind, however, is superman. Mutated. in an instant, zombie superman uses his heat vision - black out.

Waking up, "M" is surrounded by zombies, including the little girl w/ her face still covered by hair. "M" has turned as well. the girl's head tilts up at "M".
"You're not acting as you are supposed to be," she says.

You have to learn how to interpret correctly.
The restaurant/ bar is a metaphor for daily life - eating, drinking, meeting people, interacting, moving on (or not)...
The news report is a metaphor for our reliance on being fed correct information.
Zombies are a metaphor for penguins.
The little girl represents all the people (usually unrecognised at the time/ unsung) that help you through life.
The woman is a methaphor for those that you should beware of, but never are until too late.
The black lever and Superman are metaphors for our reliance on dei ex machina - "something will turn up to solve this".
The final comment is the fear that you're somehow different from everyone else.

In short it's about penguins taking over the world and that there really is no Superman to save us.

Or, it could be that dreams don't actually have any "hidden" meaning at all.

Dywyddyr... you've got it all wrong. The presence of penguins isn't so....black and white. Penguins are strange critters that love having multiple personality disorder, as well as being bipolar. What this correlates to is them exhibiting very erratic behaviors, one moment they could be taking over the world, the next minute they're eating sushi sandwiches at McDonald's with the President explaining how they no longer wish to control this little world.

Pfft, penguins aren't bipolar, they only live in the South.
(And I have it on good authority 1 that those meetings with the pres are disinformation tactics).

It's easy to embellish a dream. I would bet that at least half of what M is saying is fabrication or that the poster is M.

If it is true then here's what went down... Off the top of my head: M had sex before going to sleep, let's say he had it with Chero. He didn't think much of it. In fact for him, sex with Chero bordered on necrophilia (zombie theme). The only thing M remembers about the sex is thinking he contracted an STD (disease reference). So much so that M is panicking in his subconscious, thus the running around reference. So in order to forget the experience or the thought that he might have caught something he winks out temporarily, then replays the recollection of his sex with Chero earlier. Instead of sex with the dead he now tries to change it because his ego won't allow him to have made such a critical error in bedmate selection. M is left holding a little girl's hand, an obvious feeling of foreboding comes over him because he fears there a chance he may have impregnated Chero. His focus switches to an ugly woman ( a reference to her poor sex abilities), still not feeling satisfied with this comparison he basically says it all .... the woman he had sex with that night was a lousy lay, this is the unlikeable conclusion he reached prior to the bartender changing the scenario again in his mind. Bartender references indicate that he is blaming the poor sex or selection of a sex partner on too much booze or the party lifestyle. Suddenly he realizes he is not Superman and that his sexual partners over the years have pretty much been a carbon copy of one another. He wants to get away from them but they follow him into the next scene and in the end his subconscious relays a sobering reminder to him that he needs to change his modus operandi because right now, nothing's working.
All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

If dreams do have concrete, or even subjective, meanings, no-one except "M" could ever really find out. The stimuli and perception that influenced "M's" dream is impossible for us to know. When I think about dreams I have had, I cannot resist analysing them - and sometimes I have reached conclusions that I genuinely felt were accurate, but obviously will never know. I find that analysing dreams while considering thoughts, events, and feelings you've recently experienced yield the most interesting results. Example:

I once had a dream that a close friend of mine dragged me out to a bar. We walked inside, took a booth, and then I noticed there was an alien standing on a large window sill beside us. It was doing something unmentionable, and staring at my friend. My friend called it a freak. That's all I remember about the dream. My conclusion was this:

That close friend of mine always tried to get me to go to bars with her, and I often gave in. I hate bars, but I really liked that friend - which is why I always went. So I entertained the idea that I was the alien. This led to the following thoughts: I feel like one when I'm in bars, and the atmosphere alienates me. That has an overall effect on how I interact with others, and how they might ultimately perceive me. Therefore going to bars might not have been in my best interest.
