I know it says Facebook, but it seems to fit the forum too. Do you recognize which one you are?

I think maybe a few of them may apply to the forum, but not having cranks, trolls, or perpetually high and incoherent leaves many members here without a label. Oh and pain in the ass is also missing from the list.

It's just as well. The forum would be inundated with posts nominating me as the qualified member for that position.

Just a note on facebook though, EVERY employer now checks facebook to see what potential new employees get upto, so there should also be a category for people who actually want to get, or keep, a job, this is where you have at least 2 facebooks accounts, one where you can list your wildest antics and latest party pictures etc... and also another one under your actual name that portrays you in the best possible way to your employers, not the drunken orgies or silly pranks most people normally get upto.

I might add a few to our pop psy list:

The recycler...has a bad habit of posting on 2 year old threads.

The trash picker... continues conversations from the trash then has the Gaul to force mods to view them again after reporting something messy they found.

pretty much nailed it for me with his "front porch" analogy.
I come here/came here, seeking to have questions answered, and postulations refined through suggestions and constructive arguement
(i defined my knowledge acquisition at my last university as "knocking down a professor, and taking out my knowledge sucking straw and sucking as much knowledge from their poor brains as possible, then moving on to my next victim") as time wore on, being multidiciplinary in my approach, I was able to offer insites into the various fields of study that the entrenched professors hadn't seen, so it turned out to be a fair exchange after-all.

However, in this front porch community, community matters, so I defocus on my interests and desires to participate more fully in the community aspect of whatever it is that we are doing here.

    simple 'nuff?

    ...............
    ................
some of this thread reminds me of an episode with my 1st wife(did I mention that she was a genius? but completely lacking in any long term motivation)
But, on the whim of the moment, my god but her mind could fly to unpresupposed heights, swirl like a tornado, and take you to another reality.
We decided to get her to try therapy, and signed into a psyc. facility.........after awhile, she suckered the therapist into voicing a classification of her behavioural patterns, whereupon, she declared: "Don't pidgeon-hole me motherfucker!" Shortly thereafter, we concluded that the exercise was pointless, and left the facility.

    Some people defy classification

Dat's cuz labels suck and imply artificial limitations.

I do not know who made this poster, but the person has actually described 95% of my contacts on Facebook.

If I had to choose a type, I would be a "lurker" (n°1),
because I rarely post something on Facebook (due to the fact that not a lot of my friends are interested in the latest scientific discoveries and breakthroughs).
It is only my hope that this will not be the case on this forum.

Welcome to the forum, feel free to lurk all you want. I don't spend much time on Facebook, so I really can't say what goes on there, but those 16 types, looked like a good topic starter for this forum. Regardless of what you want to get out of this forum, if your not having some fun doing it, it won't be worth spending the time.
