Yes.
It's the pesky dolphin worm with its tongue sticking out.
Be grateful it isn't this:
Note: I am not a doctor. I hold no medical degrees. I'm equally reliable for medical information as a donkey in a coma.
Part of the issue here is the shadow puppet problem. The image doesn't show what the parasite looks like, it shows the shadow of it in 2 dimensions. So it's a vague and unclear picture at best.
I would like to believe that your doctor is following up on this and suggesting tests.
The closest match I've found by searching appears to be Schistosoma mansoni. Example: http://www.dpd.cdc.gov/dpdx/IMAGES/P...lt_Lammie2.jpg
I would certainly hope that is not what it is as that sucker's a doozy.
If your doctor is not really working with you on this, I suggest you get a referral to a specialist or see about getting another doctors opinion.
LITERALLY THESE "THINGS" WOULD POP FROM MY skin. (sorry about all caps there)
I have been having bazaar skin symptoms since JUN 2006. Been to 12 doctors, and
have gotten 12 different dx, but with everything that I read about online, they say for you NOT
to bring in any "samples" as then you will be dx with "DOP"
Delusional parasitosis-
I am currently under the care of a psychiatrist, and he tells me, there is obviously something going on, I can
see that just be looking at your skin.
2 dermo's 4 different DX. along with 4 biopsies.
finally got my primary care doc to do stool sample, but he only did e-coli. I KNOW I DONT HAVE E-COLI....
I also know that I have some funky skin parasite that any doc i see or that I am referred to- they just
pass it back on me- and to my primary care doc. I am ready to be a class research project - I dont' want any
payment- I just want to be free from the pain and the debilitating effect this has put on my life.
What is DOP? Why would they disallow samples for medical care? That makes no sense. Never heard of it. I'm guessing you are located outside of the U.S.A.
Can you get away with bringing in a sample when you get one to your psychiatrist? Physical evidence can be mildly persuasive...
If you didn't have e.coli, something would be wrong. This entire sentence makes no sense. You should have e. coli in your digestive tract.
Neverfly-
thanks for your input-
I am just out of my head- this all started in 2006 - I have been to 12 doctors with about 16 different diagnosis's. I keep telling my primary that I obviously have a skin parasite, or an entire body parasite, and have asked to go see an parasitologist and/or an infectious disease guy- but he just keeps pushing me off- saying no no no.... at bad flares, I look like a leper.... other times just all bruised, most times just in too much pain.... it migrates. started in the bottom of my left toe.... I am certain they are in my sinus cavity as well. I am in the SWUS, I am white, but have travelled all over the world. grew up in asia. I have walked barefoot in fresh water in Malaysia, and Thailand... but the docs won't even listed, and give me another tube of cream - and tell me to come back....
Take them samples. take pictures of the things coming out. Take video. do you have any witnesses? get sworn affidavits. If this is real, it should not be ignored. For all we know there is some rare or new (or foreign transplanted) species in your local ecosystem that could effect many others. If you have samples take them in. I have taken samples to my docs before and they never admonished me for it.
here is a link for DOP: Morgellons Message Dr Greg Smith
and I just meant that I didn't have food poisioning, and that was the parasite test they did.
and I have an appointment with my psych on 17 JUN, I will take him some in.... but he won't be the one to "refer" me out to a specialist, my PCP would be. I have been told I have scabies - herpes (and have never tested positive for herpes) the scabies, they gave me that cream, but never looked at a skin sample under a microscope.
I live in the US, but have traveled extensively outside of the US.
All of my symptoms that I research, always take me back to "Morgellons Disease" - every state that they list within the US, where upwards of 50,000 people have the same complaints- how could THAT many people have the same symptoms and no one listen?
the "things that popped from my skin" no longer look like that.... they are now about an inch long, kinky/wavy.... where ever I am, there they appear. Most expel when in the bath. I don't have that same microscope that I had used with the first picture I posted, so if I were to post a pict of what's the latest form that expells from me, it would look like a dog hair at best.
ok- you talked me into it. what did your docs say or DX you with? I have a witness and anyone in my house- no one else is affected....
(thank god). There is some belief that this is caused by all the GMO foods that Monsanto is producing.....
THIS IS real... THIS is ruining my life.
Well mine was never parasites. I just had trouble describing excretions to docs so I had a tendency to take anything weird that came out of me to them to see for themselves. Especially while pregnant the first time. I've gotten better at verbal communication since then but more often than not I don't really trust my perception of color and stuff so if I detect something looks odd about my urine or stools, I have a poor unfortunate family member to inspect so that if I have to be taken to the doc they can give their impression of what I passed. Especially since my vision is getting progressively worse these days.
you are right. I will take them in to my appointment.
Ok, I read the Morgellons page on Wikipedia. I can understand now, more clearly, why you said that you had read that bringing in samples might be indicative of Morgellons.
The idea being that many of the samples turned out to be cotton, hair (human or rodent), etc.
I'm probably going to anger you with this...
But you should probably be willing to also accept the psychiatric treatments because according to what I've read- It Does Work.
Consider the possibility that something in the psych drug may even interact with the invader, inhibiting it. And it just is currently not known about.
Now- that may not be true... But that the drug does work and is documented to do so- What have you got to lose?
Take them in. But be willing to accept whatever treatment they offer, even if it is psychiatric medication. There are times when severe anxiety can cause lesions in the skin. And if the scabs crack and ooze a bit, small fibers from your upholstery or bedding can get trapped in the ooze as it dries creating the appearance of fibers coming out of the skin.
I have severe allergic reactions to some mosquito bites and they become weeping mounds on my skin. I am already on anxiety medication so I don't tend to get too worried over things like that. I just get pissed off and annoyed by it. but to me it was very clear that I had just picked up lint in my oozing wounds. Had I not been on my medication for anxiety, well I may well have had a freak out and worried about the worst possibilities. When I was a kid I used to think that mosquitoes were laying their eggs in my skin and I would freak out over it.
If you are suffering from anxiety, the anxiety itself can be causing the lesions. The other stuff could just be feeding your fears.
If you accept the psychiatric treatment and it does not get better then you are in a better position to be able to push for more investigation. And another thing, If you manage to get admitted to the hospital for something, you can refuse to be discharged if you do not feel you have been adequately treated for your condition. Just keep in mind, if you refuse any treatment offered, any at all, you could end up committed. So be as cooperative as possible.
well the picture at the beginning of this asked to identify certainly isn't "iin my head" .....
no one else I know has these popping from their skin.....
The picture is no longer attached to the O.P.
Either way, I had already pointed out that it was vague and could be anything- including a dolphin with its tongue sticking out.
You need to contact Kevin Bacon. Apparently he's killed quite a few monstrous worms in his day.
I understand that, but doctors rarely accept anything they can't verify. And there is no way for them to verify that hte picture taken was actually of something in your skin. that's why I suggested videos and witness affidavits. You need to be able to provide evidence that show the things in your skin, so the picture would need show identifying information about you, like near a unique birth mark or tattoo or something or better yet video that shows your face, you talking and then without cutting away, zooming in on your skin to show what is happening. Being a skeptic myself, I am trying to give you what it would take to prove to me with certainty that you definitely have parasites.
For sake of the thread, I am taking your word for it. for me to accept or deny your claims serves no purpose for me and either could be detrimental if they are wrong. I have no way of verifying one way or the other so I will remain inconclusive and open to the possibility that it has as much chance of being real as it does being psychosomatic.
I hope that is not offensive to you. It is not intended to be.
I'm educated in paristitology, but I can't see the picture?!?!![]()
But I mean if 12 physicians couldn't figure it out, I'm not sure why you thought bringing it on an Internet forum would help![]()
It may have been lost in the transfer- but the Original Poster may be able to re-post it.
Took your sweet time getting to this thread, eh? Johnny come lately.
Should have you doing sentences.
"I will show up to threads on time..."
"I will show up to threads on time..."
"I will show up to threads on time..."
"I will show up to threads on time..."
Well if what the OP has stated is true, it's unlikely that I would have been able to help anyway, but yeah, of course I would arrive late! It's not often there are actually thread topics on this forum that I'm actually educated in!
I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..I will show up to threads on time..
I'm not too sure about the trustworthiness of that Morgellon's Disease website. Here is the abstract of a 2011 study on PLOS One.
PLOS ONE: Clinical, Epidemiologic, Histopathologic and Molecular Features of an Unexplained Dermopathy
Conclusions
This unexplained dermopathy was rare among this population of Northern California residents, but associated with significantly reduced health-related quality of life. No common underlying medical condition or infectious source was identified, similar to more commonly recognized conditions such as delusional infestation.
