Let's say that I happened to stumble upon a nano-teleporter (it does not matter how) and it subsequently transported me to a massive protected complex (within the Earth's Core) which housed several "stargate" like portals.

I subsequently found that these portals led to hundreds of thousands of uninhabited habitable planets within the Universe (both known and undiscovered).

Should I then inform the rest of the human race? Or what would you do?

How would you get in such a tiny teleporter? How would you even know you'd fallen over it?

The teleporter itself is of a nano-size, due to its advanced nature. My entire body and self is actually transported normally.

In any case, that wasn't what the thread was based upon - it is a hypothetical, after all. Or were you trying to be amusing? :|

I would normally say: work out the rest of the plot and get it published. Then try to see if Hollywood are interested.

But you're too late, it's already been done.

Unless your novel is going to be significantly different from the film/ TV series I'd suggest coming up with a different idea.

I think you're having some difficulty with terms here.
Please define "normal" with respect to "teleporters".

Wow - there're certainly a lot of closed-mind left-brainers here. It's not supposed to be entirely real, is it - after all, it is a speculative hypothetical. This was "General Discussion" after all, not "Physics" or whatnot.

Wow, that is exceptionally funny. So funny, in fact, that I simply cannot stop laughing.

But no - just no. As the thread title and OP states, it is not real - as evidenced by the "If". "If" meaning that it has not been presumed to be real; it is an entirely speculative hypothetical. Much like if I were to make a thread stating "If I were to come into contact with an extraterrestrial race, how should I communicate" - such a thread does not state that I have actually come into contact with an actual extraterrestrial race; it is simply a speculative hypothetical.

I do wonder how some of you would have been when someone asked "If I could fly, what would I do; if I could harness energy from the sun, how would I do it".

I don't know if you've come to the right forum to engage in fantasy world hypotheticals though really have you? I like to chat about "what ifs" with my mates and watch science fiction movies but I came here because its a science forum and here, I want to talk science.....

Why does it not matter how? How is the facility "protected" from the crushing mass of an entire planet?

The entertainment value in science fiction hinges upon some form of believability. It sort of applies in the same way as telling a good joke. There's an old saying, "The best jokes are not saying something funny, but saying something true in a funny way."

Unless you're going for a wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff Dr. Who approach.

Well then if you were transported there how will you get out? Since the teleportation device is on the Earths surface and you are inside the core of the Earth, just how are you going to return back to the surface? Since you stumbled upon this device on Earths surface therefor you would not know how to work it so you'd be stuck at the center of the Earth wouldn't you?

the silliness of my peers aside

    I WOULD TELL EVERYONE
Then get it onto this marvelous internet and social media as fast as possible.(before some damned unnamed governmental body had a chance to hoard the knowledge)

    For all mankind

Certainly, I would write a book and make my findings public.

Leaving aside the base at the core of the earth supposition, the existence of advanced alien technology that presumably allows unknown aliens access to our world - even more than it allows humans access to theirs - would be a dangerous secret. Personally dangerous to reveal within a world where individual lives are routinely sacrificed for the defense and security needs of nations and states, even within and by those which are deemed to be bound by civilised laws about civil rights. On a personal level it may make better sense to act like you never heard of anything so ridiculous - and never go near the thing again. But on a global level it would be an ongoing threat to global security that would leave us all vulnerable if it's existence continued undiscovered and the technologies went unexamined and unstudied

If the discover were an Iranian or North Korean, would he/she be a legitimate target for 'redaction' by intelligence and security organs of other nations? But then again, would it make any difference what nationality? After all, the potential for endangering national security of nations - and the entire world - would be immense. Would those organisations be legitimately able to release that person back to ordinary freedom after sucking every detail out of them, knowing what they do, even if they didn't intend to use it as a means to fame and fortune?

Would a nation, coming into that knowledge, have legitimate grounds to keep it all secret? After all, it represents a security issue that is not exclusive to any one nation state. I would be disturbed to find that any nation would use it secretly and exclusively for it's own advantage - even if that nation was my own.

Also the technology might offer some ready solutions to serious global issues; to have those shrouded in secrecy and denied to the world could ultimately be as devastating as alien invasion or global domination by the nation that got it first.
