Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself. My name is James Flanagan. The reason I joined was because I saw what appeared to be a worm shaped, shadow figure (that's the only way I know how to describe it) coming from NE to SW on the full moon tonight. I noticed there was already a discussion about this. I already know that people are going to say what I saw was something else and say there's another reasonable explanation. However, I know what I saw. I'm not say it was extraterrestrial or an alien of any sort. Also, I debunked it as being a satellite because of the size and shape. I was looking at the moon with no enhancing instruments and the object seemed to take up 3/8 length wise and 1/16 width wise of the moon. It was very strange to see with the naked eye. Any ideas???

No ideas. I did not see it.

The only remaining question is- Can you live with not really ever knowing what it it was without jumping to any far fetched conclusions?
Sometimes, we don't get all the answers. It could have been many things you wouldn't necessarily have recognized.

I think suggestions about what it may have been would be a distraction. Yes, it is possible that someone might say, "It may have been a chocolate cheez-whiz gobbling space dragon" and you might say... "Hey, that does kind of sound like what I saw..." But would you really know?
I think it's likely you'll tell yourself any probable suggestion, based on your memory, more accurately than any of us wildly guessing.

In the meantime, welcome to the board.

Yes, I see you had a period there of making your point with an exclamation. I won't question it, since you hit the mark. But when you comma-round again, I hope you take a moment to punctuate.

Personally, I think it was a worm shaped shadowy figure.

Perhaps it was the ISS in transit across the moon?

Have you considered that it may have been just a small rain cloud? Asides from that, it may have been a star devouring Space Worm.

All that belongs to human understanding, in this deep ignorance and obscurity, is to be skeptical, or at least cautious; and not to admit of any hypothesis, whatsoever; much less, of any which is supported by no appearance of probability...Hume

Wouldn't it be ironic that NASA is spending its time focused on studying other planets because, well who cares about the moon, we've been there, done that. And all the while there were insidious space worms lurking below the surface that we awoke from a dormant stage and now they are planning their attack on earth.

then again, it could have been an eyelash bent inward and crossing his line of vision. or the shadow of space debris floating by. or maybe ... a ghost!!! just kidding..
