pls add whatever you know about the digestive system
It is smelly and gross.
Mine makes disgusting noises whenever it is not fed.
Corn is impervious.
Maybe the O.P. should specify a question.
you guys are always good for a low-brow laugh
pretty vague topic...i could write pages about the digestive system if i just said what i knew about it, but i'm not going to.
Years ago, probably the worst and most serious affectation of the digestive system was ulcerative colitis. As far as I know, a definite cause is still elusive. Today's treatment is far more helpful than yesteryear's. My wife's brother developed the disease at 16, spent 4 months in Cook County Hospital (Illinois), nearly died, but was released in somewhat healed condition, this formerly strapping young man, having lost nearly 1/2 of his body weight! He improved, became again quite active, though ocassionally suffering recurrences less severe than the original, and then died during a bout, on his 25th. birthday.
Generally involving the large intestine only, the normal peristaltic movements of the intestine's muscle structures become aggravatedly accelerated, causing the lining of the gut to shed off, with lots of bleeding. It was back then (1975) thought to be psychosomatic in cause. Treatment involved use of steroids and opium, which slows peristalsis, and constant administration of liquid nourishment only, via I-V. jocular
Sometimes it makes you feel uneasy, especially when overfed.
This is one reason why it is important to keep your feeders trained. Usually newly employed, but occasionally the old timer still has a lazy day and decides to throw all the feed in your pen at once rather than timing it out. One trick is to ignore the feed (takes a bit of self control) and let it build up until their boss makes them clean the entire pen.
They usually get the message after having to do that a couple of times.
Oh yes...that's true...
