Fact is, it's saving itself. As humanity dwindles away as a species, undoubtedly WAY in advance of the planet's demise, the old Earth will rejuvenate itself most wonderfully.

No science here...moved to general.

Human evolution is still taking place, altruistic and intellectual genes are the only genes that will get us to the stars and save this planet and ourselves. If this does not happen naturally, one might argue a cause for eugenics.
