    Hi Everyone,

just dropping by to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and successful new year 2013 !

As some of you may have noticed I have not been on here for the past couple days; I am taking some time out to recharge my batteries, refocus my thoughts and prepare myself emotionally for the upcoming months, and of course to spend some time with my wonderful family. I will be back online by next week, once the year is out.
2013 will be an emotional year for us - my two daughters will turn 18, and will likely be getting ready to head off into the wide world to start their own little lives. This is always hard for any parent. In addition, come May we are expecting the birth of our first grandchild, for which we are very excited. There are also a number of projects of various kinds which can no longer be delayed, so finances will be very strained. All in all it will be a year full of ups and downs.
I will be heading off on my own into the northern mountains for a couple of days now to go wilderness trekking, just to clear my head and get my own thoughts in order before 2013 comes knocking on our doors. Once again, I wish all of you without exception the very best for this festive season, and see you all next year !

    Season's greetings,
    Markus Hanke

Good luck with all of that.

    And same for everyone else.

Hi Markus, great post and I had a lovely Christmas thanks. I hope you're not missing from here for too long, my selfish reasons, because we'd all then miss out on the learning opportunity from really informative and insightful posts. Congratulations for the grandchild something really nice to look forward to and have lots of fun with the mountain trekking. Got to say though this weather you're a braver man than me.

The last week of the year is the traditional time for review and introspection, as well as contemplation and speculation on what course the new year might bring. With hopes that your wilderness trekking was both delightful and restorative, I leave this short musical interlude...

I use "northern mountains" as a generic term, since I prefer to keep my exact geographic location to myself. Hope you understand
