Apologies for those of you here with the training to understand the basic thermal properties of elements, please feel free to through out some newbie terms at me.

I am working through designs and eventual implementation of a modified sterling engine using a vein motor. The goal is to achieve the results of a sterling motor from a lower temperature difference using heat exchanger that can capture that heat over a more wide spread and consistent form.

In either case, I was curious about the compound and pressure that I should use is the closed loop. I have only the education that I have gleaned via way too many Google searches. That research has led to the conclusion that the pressure created via a state change by adding BTU's is higher then pressure created that is derived from adding the same amount of BTU's to an already gaseous substance.

Is this true? I can't see how this could be without violating laws of thermodynamics. Thanks in advance!
