I have expected such reactions. What I need to know is how can I protect my rights ( that I am inventor/reasearcher of these theories) before puting the theories, before the science world. Once I become sure and confident about this, I shall bring all the facts before our lerned members, and I am confident that my theories will outdate the existing theories.

Hey there, dattatrey,

This is a Science Discussion forum, not a peer reviewed journal or University Science Department.

As such, you are able to discuss your ideas and such with other people, but it won't lead to any other result than any readers of the forum knowing your ideas.

If you wish to contribute to the' Scientific world' the best thing you can do is write out your hypothesis and any supporting evidence and submit it to a peer reviewed journal.

Did you not expect or want people to ask questions about your idea?

What I need to know is how can I protect my rights ( that I am inventor/reasearcher of these theories) before puting the theories, before the science world.
As far as I know (and I have worked on intellectual property rights for many years) there is no way of protecting a theory. However, if your theory is published in scientific journals and widely accepted then, by convention, it will have your name associated with it. For example, Ohm's Law, Newton's Laws of Motion, Darwin's Theory of Evolution, Saville Reaction, etc.

Once I become sure and confident about this, I shall bring all the facts before our lerned members, and I am confident that my theories will outdate the existing theories.
Feel free to present you ideas in detail here. But be aware that they will be questioned and challenged. That is what makes science such a good process. Nothing is accepted without being thoroughly reviewed, attacked, criticized, taken apart, tested, etc.

Note that if you present you ideas here, or in any other public medium, then that will be evidence (of some sort) that they are your ideas.

Strange is right. Ideas published here is evidence that you put them here.

But if you want patent for your idea, donít waste any more time. Patent office is in Mumbai. Apply there for patent of your invention. It is not costly. Rs. 1000 for application and document submission. Rs. 2500 for publication of your patent documents. Rs. 2500 for examination of your invention.

You can apply with Rs. 1000 and submit documents so that your invention gets protection from the time of document submission. Publication and examination charges you may pay afterwards.

Just to be clear, you can not patent a theory. However, you can patent any inventions based on it.

Yes, you are right again.

He may not be able to patent his theory but his documents and whatever written in it will be protected as his in the patent office of India.

That is a very expensive way of gaining copyright. A much cheaper way is to write your name and date on the document. There, done.

There is no need to register a document at the patent office to prove it is yours. If you are really paranoid, you could get a notary to sign it. Or deposit a copy in a bank. But it is totally unnecessary.

Write a document describing the idea and you have copyright on that document. Of course, anyone else can take the idea and express it in their own words. But <shrug> so what.

Are you really sure that a theory generated by an amateur is "important"? Preliminary, tentative, interesting are the best possible descriptions that might come up.

I can not risk that.
Risk what? The only way of protecting an idea from being used by others is to keep it secret.

Scientific theories (important or otherwise) are published in peer reviewed scientific journals.

Dear Dattatrey,

Whatever you post here becomes proof itself.

If you donít believe in safe custody of Indian patent office and donít believe in posting it here either(this is as good as global publication), you are pulling our legs or you are a genius of such high rank that you donít understand simple things.

When you post your theory here, it will be attacked so violently that you will be short of time and defense to answer every question and criticism. Most theorists have undergone this treatment and have learnt here how not to theorize a theory and have become critics.

I like theorists and speculators the most who, in spite of being pointed out wrong many a times, have not evolved as critics. Do post your theory here and count me as one of the many witnesses to your theory on this forum.

How long before we are gone before you? I do not turn back but you people do. When it comes my time, I will go and where will you go but trodding upon old foot prints? This flesh is bound in it's age. This is one thing you cannot obtain. Will age be defeated? For your own negligence and your enchantments (hypnotising) you humans, is this not KD speaking? For your dispicable ways, his hope may or may not obtain. He wouldn't want to lose one of you.

I am religious but you have taken your wisdom without the fear of the Lord. So where is your knowledge? I will not give it to the people for the people are muddled. I just want my own things. This is what I will do. Not one of you will remember this moment.

This is how you slew me. So be it then.

Good bye.

The goats are the goats. They go to the left, and the sheep and wheat to the right. Wheat in the storehouses in heaven. You expect these things to pass away? The law of the TRUTH not assumption? The law of science will be nullified in the ways of the Lord. And the blood of the Lamb will prevail.
