    In order to describe forces/causes of motion/change of motion, one has to have some notion of what an object would do over time if nothing acted upon it. If you want to do physics, then you need to have some idea of time. If you don't, great. If you want to get rid of time, then come up with a physics without time that matches our observations better than current physics.

    (This argument essentially comes from JC Maxwell, On Matter and Motion.)
